Trailer was nowhere near as good as the last two but still decent. This should be a much more critical success than BVS.

At least it looks more "fun" than BvS.

It has the Joker, de facto #2 DC character these days. Sounds like it might be a return to form for "action movie" Will Smith. And if the trailers are any indication, should be a break-out role for Margot Robie. Really the only thing holding this down is bitter aftertaste a lot have after BvS.

Still not convinced these trailers aren't bolstered by their music choices so far.

Still out on the DCEU so far. I'll probably wait for this one on Netflix or Redbox.

That's my thoughts but I think I've learned to be a bit cautious now after BvS.

The trailers for BVS though were not that great, especially the one that showed you the ENTIRE movie. I didn't hate BVS (and I didn't love it), I liked it as much as I liked MOS, but the trailers never really got me super excited for the movie. With SS, it seems WB is not making the same mistakes they made with BVS, at least with the marketing.

Sitting at 35% on RT right now.....will the DCEU ever truly take off critically? I know Geoff Johns taking creative control could be a step in the right direction, but will it matter now that the first 3 films in the universe have been terrible-mediocre (and I'm basing that off general consensus on RT)? MoS and BvS were decent at best, but I thought this would be the film to really kick things off! Fingers crossed it isn't that bad....still seeing it on Thursday.

I don't know why people hold so much stock in Rotten Tomatoes. Don't base your opinions on a movie based on critics and if you want to see what critics think, find critics that you tend to agree with. Everyone views movies through a different lens and you have to find a critic that aligns with how you like your movies to be. If a critic says that your favorite movie sucks, why are you listening to that person for their future opinions? RT is nothing but a summary based on critics you may or may not agree with.

That being said, one of the guys I frequently watch and agree with, Jeremy Jahns, gave it a very positive review. Now if Chris Stuckmann gives it a positive review, then I know I'm up for a good time. Looking forward to seeing it on Sunday.

I trust RT because it is a site the combines a large majority of critics. If a film gets 37% the odds are I am not going to like it.

I think RT is mostly reliable. 80%-100% generally means I'm going to like it, 40%-0% generally means I'm going to dislike it, and 40%-80% is a bit of a grey area where I tend to go either way on agreeing with it.

RT usually, is very reliable; with several well trusted outlets reporting to them when review embargos are lifted (IE, The Hollywood Reporter, Variety, Entertainment Weekly, E.T.C.).

There is another reason why I trust them, because of that the film lifted it's embargo day's before the release of the film. It doesn't work out, much like what happened with Fantastic Four, and other IP's.

Plus, it does look like that most of the film has been given away from all the trailers; but that's me. I hope people are wrong, as you have great talent, from Margrot Robbie, Jared Leto, Will Smith, Viola Davis, and Scott Eastwood; but for now, I am not hooked into it.

It's also due to because I don't like the way they are approaching it, backwards and not in the best way that they can do it.

I recently saw a write up from someone I trust on another forum, now he is one who was excited for the film and was hoping this was a case where he didn't agree with the critics. His response? "Sadly, the reviews are true."

According to him, the film runs into the same problems as BvS. It's a incoherent clusterduck, bloated, too many characters without fleshing them out, scenes that come and go with no rhyme or reason. A big thing is the pacing and editing is downright terrible, where you can clearly tell they made two different cuts and tried smashing them together.

An' that backs up what's being said where David Ayer was aiming for a darker, grittier film, however due to backlash from BvS the higher ups wanted something more light hearted that was shown in the trailers. Leading to the higher ups getting the company that made the trailers to assist in a different cut that compeated against Ayer's.

He said there's definitely a good movie in there somewhere, but it's clear executive meddling really botched this one badly as it needs a lot of recuts and reworks. (This is also another film where stuff in the trailers didn't end up in the theatrical cut.) Finally, when it comes to the muched hyped Joker. Don't get excited. While he personally liked the portrayal, what you see in the trailer is what you get in the film. He's barely in it and quite frankly if you cut his stuff out, it wouldn't affect anything since he's just in flashbacks.

I saw it tonight and I liked it a lot. It did not take itself as seriously as the two Superman films and felt more like the comics and animated series that it was based on. Will Smith does a great job as Deadshot and this is his best performance in quite some time. The ensemble cast had great chemistry and played off one another well. I would like to see more of DC's movies head in this direction, but then again I'm the type of person that would love to see a live action take on Starro.
