What an insane movie.
Cgi all over the place, some of it is absolutely horrible lol. Ridiculous cameos. Some pretty ridiculous scenes. Ridiculous humor.
It's pretty crazy.

So just wait a month for it to be on Max or sneak in to see it while i'm at the theater? Sorry, but if I see it in a theater, i'm not even giving an A-List reservation since that's essentially me buying a ticket as far as AMC is concerned when they have to pay WB. I normally go to an AMC once a week on a day off and do a double header if there's enough that interests me to do so (which lately there has been - this is a packed few months). The Flash seems interesting in concept, but I just can't support it due to Ezra's problematic behavior.

It seems like this movie is gonna flop really really hard. Predictions are really low,

The trailers show the " best action" parts, but the cgi is really bad. I loved supergirl and she's really awesome.

I'll give it a gloss because I watched it with an eyepatch and a peg leg on but Holy Mother of Lord what is this film. It legitimately looks and feels like the first two hours of a video game. Entire scenes play out where it feels like the only real thing is the actor's face and even then... boy.

Say what you will about Marvel's use of the multiverse but this feels like the most egregious use yet. Literal 'HEY, IT'S THE THING YOU KNOW! TIME TO CLAP!' stuff here. One particular use of the Multiverse here is just baffling and reeks of someone going 'Yeah, he's super popular and everyone loves him!' (And yes, I know the history there). Such a bad waste of Keaton returning as Batman. The humor barrels into grating and annoying (certainly a choice to make the audience almost disdain the titular character). It's such a simple story in concept but feels so bloated with everything shoved into it. I'm not a huge super hero fan by any means but I generally enjoy the MCU because they're light, usually quirky, funny yet heartfelt stories that bring some fun set pieces. The DC, on the other hand, almost always feels like it's either a far too serious and brooding inspection of super heroes as 'Gods', which I care zero about, or, like here with The Flash, a cheaper imitation of an MCU film. This feels like an MCU film but it just does not have the effort behind it to work well. That end battle, man. Just a nightmare of bleak style film making. Then you tack on your emotional beats afterward and it's great, right? Right?

It really feels insane at some parts. Baffling in some parts. Couple cringe parts. And some of the worst cgi since the Mummy 2 and van Helsing lol.
I can't believe this is what they released. Why did zod needed to be cgi, and those cgi babies?
Jesus, what a bizarre movie. Almost feels like Who Framed Roger Rabbit In some ways.
Feels like that Chip and Dale movie that came out some years ago. Lol.

And blue bettle doesn't really have a cool villain. It's gonna be genetic villains. DC is finished.

Ah... the DCEU is almost finished. The DCU on the other hand let's wait and see on. I'm looking forward to Superman: Legacy and the only DC movies i've cared for the past 10 years are The Suicide Squad, Shazam, Joker, and The Batman. Oh and Peacemaker was great.

I'll give the DCU a fair shot. Andy Muschietti being the director on this movie and the new Batman movie now does worry me a bit though.

I thought the first hour of THE FLASH was a complete mess, but once Michael Keaton and Sasha Calle arrive, it starts to click. Surprisingly effective emotional resolution at the climax, too.

(Though I think that's a bit undermined by the very last scene, the very silly end credits, and the post-credits scene.)

Overall, I'm mixed-positive on it.

For everyone writing DC's death certificate. Elseworlds films for example are doing just fine and absolutely destroying the DCEU (with the exception of Aquaman) since 2017.

For a box office comparison...

Elseworlds Films:

• Joker - $96.2M opening weekend/$335.4M domestic/$1.07B Worldwide
• The Batman - $134M/$369M/$770.9M

DCEU Films actually started out solid theatrically at least as far as money goes for the first four films. Once you get to Justice League everything shifts. I focused on opening weekends here for an easy look at how things shifted.

Justice League debuted to $93M and in itself was a film that underperformed. Since then the highest opening a film has had for the 3-day opening weekend was 2018's Aquaman with $67.8M, with Black Adam less than a million behind. Aquaman had the luxury of opening over the Holiday period so it was able to overcome the weak opening.

What this all shows is that the DCEU has been a Universe very few people have been interested in for a long time now and has been slowly dying. The toxic fan base has not helped. If James Gunn can find a way to reinvigorate things and create movies that look interesting and actually good, then the DCU could easily succeed.

I liked this movie. At its core there is a heart but yeah, it’s VFX and pointless cameos almost feel entirely stupid. Don’t know what Muschietti was so bent on the paradox Batman being Keaton, it should have stayed Thomas Wayne. A lot of aspects of this movie deserved better. There’s a LOT to love as a Flash fan that I didn’t expect them to include either. Also hope Calle isn’t erased in Gunn’s DCU. Kind of ticks me off how he’s excusing his own work, which even references and reflects the characters he’s erasing, lol.

I assume nothing from The Flash will be kept but we’ll see.

Gunn has said Blue Beetle is the first “character” as a part of the DCU, but Superman: Legacy is “the first DCU movie”. This has led people speculate that Xolo Maridueña will continue on as Blue Beetle in the DCU, but the movie isn’t going to be canon.

Not because the film is bad but because keeping the actor with this much controversy and the film isn’t killing it to me seems like a risk not taking

I hope Keaton and Kara can show up again but as Nick said blue beetle will be the first new canon character we see in the films for a little while now

Batman stuff will always sell very well no matter what but I wonder what's gonna happen with the rest. Will they even try another flash alone movie? Are they gonna redo wonder woman and Aquaman stand alone origin movies?

It's so weird. I will always watch these movies no matter what but I kinda hope they don't do any more origin anything. I honestly don't know what they are planning for the future but I hope is not anything origin wise. We all already know who these characters are.

With it releasing in Mid-August, there won't be as much in the terms of competition affecting it for a good bit.

About the monumental flop from this,
This movie definitely needed to be released, just because I really really loved supergirl. And Keaton. I'm very very happy we got to see it.
And, it also deserved to flop this bigly. Because of Ezra, because of the bad cgi, because of the messy ending of this movie universe.
I understand why people rejected it. But I'm glad it came out. I'm really glad.
Flash is one of the weirdest movie projects to ever exist. To ever come out
It's a very hilarious situation to see. It's funny to see how much it flopped. It's funny to see the reviews people had. An entire movie universe ending here. It's funny. The awful cgi cameos, it's just crazy

Maybe the Batgirl movie was much worse than this one,maybe Batgirl is one of the worst movies of all time. But I wish they had released that one as well. I will always wish to see batgirl. It's very sad.
