It's nothing crazy...some of you have guessed already. But the good news is that it's going to be a great addition to Universal's portfolio. That's the exciting part--the expansion of their true resort area

Living in Orlando I really don't care about the hotels....I've only stayed in one a couple times. Makes no real sense when I live twenty minutes away.
That being said, I get why some would be excited.

I'd rather see more parks. ;)

They could do something a la Skyplex, combine an entertainment setting with a hotel tower and retail thing.

While I don't think it's an area I would be keen on staying at, it's probably the best use of the land. Hopefully the theme is decent

As much as people would be upset of more hotels, I agree with this entirely. And especially with the future projects they have, they'll need this extra hotel. I'm just hoping they do well with going higher for the hotel towers and to theme it well to not be tacky or bad.

I don't have a problem using the space for hotels, other than it's an ugly area of I-Drive. Nothing else of substance was ever going to go there. As for theme, they gotta go with the Silverscreen Resort

Thanks for this. If it's TPI then it is pretty much guaranteed. Sounds like a positive and logical plus. I wonder how tall?

I always loved this idea and wanted it to come to fruition. I hope they do this.

The Silverscreen concept was 16 stories tall, for reference

Yes, Niles (TPI) rarely posts something unless it's for sure. He's not into rumors. That kind of backs up what seemed like a pretty solid consensus among UO posters. Most of us had targeted that area for hotel expansion. We're pretty good" guessers" for the most part.

Hmmm... I am not sure that Deco is in grand vogue at this time. At least I haven't seen it. It had major vogue back in the late 70's and early 80's along with Art Nouveau the Arts and Crafts style. It will be interesting if UOR draws a line in the sand and makes it so.

I was told 2 resorts. One Value Family Suite and the other a smaller high end boutique hotel.

And @JungleSkip, the section of I Drive between Sand Lake and Kirkman will be getting the same look (landscaped median, buried utilities, etc.) as the south end soon.

That will be one hell of a construction project. I hope they add lots of turn lanes.

This isn't exactly true. In fact there are plans in the works to get rid of that median where it already is to add bus lanes. Although the project I am referencing has not gotten fully funded as of yet.

The proposal for the bus lanes is on the south end along with a fly over pedestrian bridge at the I Drive/Sand Lake intersection. The medians will still be there. Just narrower.

The bus lanes would also extend through the central section all the way to the outlets. But there will still be landscaped medians.

Uh no... They will be on Universal Boulevard North of Via Mercado due to the ROW constraints I mentioned earlier. You are right about smaller medians that are still landscaped though.
Here's the project site if there are any more questions.

That project ends at Sand Lake Rd. It is specifically designed to make everything from Sand Lake to the OCCC walkable and pedestrian friendly. But that project doesn't touch the section of I Drive between Sand Lake and Kirkman.

And I am familiar with the project. I have been to 2 of the last 3 status meetings.

The ticket site for Wet and Wild states tickets must be used by 12/31/16.
I am coming down for HHN and saw that they are offering 19.99 admission to Wet and Wild with AP.
My question is how much is parking at Wet and Wild ?
