The dragon was still missing today. I didn't see a tarp, they have some fake trees in front of where he should be.

I've been on the ride a lot, but I don't always trust my recollections. That said, some things I feel were slightly different:

The first flue powder transition had a burst of fog that was noticeably warm and misty. I also thought that there were either many more spiderwebs in the forbidden forest, or they've been lit differently to make them more noticable. The impression I got was that perhaps they were trying to cover some of the areas where you can look off-set. I also could have sworn I saw a new (or previously poorly lit) dementor or two.

You got me on both threads. Lol I was out there today and took a picture of the mural for kong. I rode FJ today and noticed the trees in front of the dragon. The red light they use when it supposed to breathe is still working so now it looks reddish weird. The whomping willow wasn't working but the Dementor effect was. It was actually showing your faces and not skulls or the rv in front of you.

Sorry. I was surprised it hadn't been posted already.

I forgot about the willow, it was immobile for me too.

I was merely opening my mind to the possibility. FJ doesn't seem like a UC creation. Gringotts does. Just trying to explain the unexplainable.

Interesting opinion.

Personally (once again, no proof), I would think of Gringott's story as being more of a JKR creation as it falls perfectly in line with her story while FJ seems like a best of ride which would seem more UC's or WB's speed.

I do vaguely remember noticing this too, but just wrote it off as me imagining things. But yeah, the Willow seems to be moving much less then it used to from last time I rode it.

Wait, why would FJ close for 3D in Jan? Isn't that when the Celebration of Harry Potter starts? Or would they have the 3D version open with the event?

^Wondering about this myself. Thinking that USH will have the US debut of FJ in 3D.

Do we have anyone that's seen the 3D version in Japan yet?

It was closed for around a week, but that may be due to the whole ride getting a little renovated.

Hmm. Maybe they should close it one of the weeks preceding the HP Celeberation then? Anyone planning a Potter trip probably won't go until the celebration, and it can still be after Christmas/New Years season, so then is a better time then ever. Plus the Celebration could debut the new and improved attraction.

A family of 3, circa January 15, 2016, their first day at Universal Orlando:

"Lets go to Hulk."
"Hooray!." You're the best, Mom!"

Closed.

"Oh well, how about we go to Universal and go on Twister and Disaster?"
"Meh."
"Come on, it'll be fun. Probably."

Double closed.

"OK, well, it's too cold for water rides, let's just do what we came here for, Forbidden Journey!"
"Forbidden Journey!!!! Yes!!!! I love you Mom and Dad!!!"

Closed.

"Alright, well, sometimes things just don't work out. Let's go to Diagon Alley and listen to a secret message from the Minsitry!"

The phone is disabled. As it always is.
*cue ruined vacation music

"I have a secret message for you Dad. I hate you."
"I hate you, too, son."
"I want a divorce, husband. My heart is as shuttered as all the rides here."
"Accio shut up, wife."
"Can I have some firewhiskey, Dad?"
"Why not, my 3-year-old son. Life is sadness.
"Drink hardy my child and let's go wait 255 minutes to become Minions."

If you are going to close Forbidden Journey for a week just to upgrade to 3D, maybe you should wait until 2017 when you don't have so many attractions closed down......unless you want to ruin families.

I don't foresee families being ruined. Disneyland closes lots of rides in the winter for maintenance and I hear that resort's doing pretty well.

Refurbs and updates are positive things. Or would you rather have a Six Flags where most of the attractions don't work the way they did when they opened. Sheesh, you just can't please some people.

Closing the ride on one of the least busiest weeks of the year isn't going to do much damage, Uni just needs to notify in advance.

Yeah, but Uni never notifies advanced reservations of closures do they?

I only see it being a serious issue with Potter. As much as we scoffed at it back in the day, it truly has become a theme park within a theme park - a destination unto itself. If I was a family who saved for the past two years to come and see it the week of Jan 15 and FJ or Gringotts was closed, I would have a cow.
