I'd say thought the play script makes more sense as not everyone can see a play like they can a movie (time, cost, location, times, etc). I have more issues with the play than I do with the release.

It's not even the real script, though. It it the "rehearsal period" script. They're planning on releasing the "definitive edition" early next year. Which will have all of the changes made to the script from rehearsals to opening night. You can't tell me that's not a money grab to get Potter fans to pay for the same script twice.

I'm surprised no one is talking about this but it seems Universal Japan has finally pulled the trigger on that Halloween in Hogsmeade gun. During the day there will be an event called "Magical Trick or Treat" and at night it will be "Death Eater Attack." So when do you think it will make it over hear?

There certainly is a lot of potential. With Wizarding World lands in both parks and the trains connecting that gives a lot of space for a special event. I certainly hope it makes it over here. It will be interesting to see how successful it is in Japan.

Rewatching the last three movies right now and I am reminded of how cruel the stories become. They make the Godfather look like a sissy boy. Horrid mental cruelty.

JKR has a wild dark side.

The books got progressively darker. All we need now is a crossover with Hunger Games.

As Harry grew older the forces against became stronger and the world grew darker. The boy innocent was lost. And the wizarding world went to war. Sound familiar?

And I really think she meant to make the books "grow up" with the readers. Darker, heavier themes and ideas with each year/story as the readers grew up and were able to emotionally handle the places the story went, along with the characters.

Snape has to be the most tragic figure in the series. What has/will happened to him is the epitome of cruel.

I've read that Alan Rickman was the only actor in the movie told by Rowling what would end up happening to his character. How else could he properly act that role without understanding what was really going on?

Truly sad & tragic. What little I've watched of the movies have zeroed in on that character. It elicited great sympathy on my part. And the actor, who unfortunately has now passed, was excellent in his portrayal. A truly great character portrait. He definitely could steal a scene away from the other actor's.

And Draco is the second most tragic figure. Yates really yanked the soul out of these actors. It's incredible directing.

I give Steven Kloves (the screenwriter) a lot of credit as well. He seemed to have a knack for preserving the "souls" of the characters when they could easily been lost in the action. They only book he didn't adapt is Order of the Phoenix which is my least favorite coincidentally.

He has a producer credit for Fantastic Beasts which makes me hopeful.

And finally, they end with John Williams original score. I swear, if you have a 10 year old child, then you had better feed them a book a year. This series becomes so horrid! No 10 year old should read the last of the books. Unless you think it will be fine letting them watch Game of Thrones next. o_O

Personally I went to diagon alley during HHN last year and there was pretty much NO ONE there, it was empty. I loved it cuz usually any two of the wizarding wrlds is a zoo, but if they decide to add this it would pretty much get packed like during the day, but I really want to c what it looks like in Japan. It seems super cool

I saw Draco as the most tragic character. He was being manipulated by his parents for their own social, power status, and egos. A child is always going to want to please their parents, even abused children often have a hard time letting go of that desire to please them.
Snape was an adult who made a bad decision out of jealousy, and hate. Old No nose, may have manipulated him some, but he was an adult fully responsible for his choices IMO.

Well said, it is a genuine discussion huh? I think that I feel for Snape because he is older and has little time to resolve his past mistakes. (MD will get this) In the end, Draco still has much time to fix his existence.

As I have told you all in the past, I am an extremely visual person who misses spoken words in a script. Of course the films have been around for a long time now, and I can hear the words. Too, I have read the books and had grand support from a member of this site as I had a thousand questions and arguments.

When I read the books, it was the kind and thoughtful parts that brought me to tears. Watching the final movies in the last days has shown me the intended (i assume) tragedies.

Good news! I love to cry!

I have watched my 12 year old nephew over the past couple years playing video games that are much more violent than anything in the Harry Potter books. Even fairy tales in their original form are pretty gruesome. Most all of today's kids can easily handle what appears in the Harry Potter books. Personally, I was impressed to see so many kids want to read such long books.
