One notable difference already: the track for our FotH is dark green and brown, while Orlando's and Japan's are just brown. Nothing major, but it makes me wonder if anything else will be altered.

Maybe they will make the coaster a litte more intense? Since they are building from the ground up maybe they can add a slightly bigger drop.

So.....Hippogriff is being built by Mack? That's awesome! I realize it won't be as expansive as this coaster, but I hope it's closely related to something like this other Mack coaster:

I'm thinking there could be some smaller changes to the layout..as it is kinda already being changed. Glad they're starting the Mack/Universal Relationship, even if its not a new big one.

Japan's was built from the ground up as well, and unless I'm mistaken (and please correct me if I am), it's still identical to the one in Florida.

I'm crossing my fingers that we'll have some sort of unique feature in our Hippogriff or at least have it be a longer ride (we need longer rides haha). But I'm not holding my breathe for that, it'll probably be a clone.

Pity though, as it would be a great opportunity for something unique since it IS from the ground up.

How cool would it have been to have a suspended Hippogriff family coaster similar to the new Puss in Boots/Beanstalk coaster in Singapore?

I had heard from a worker that used to work in the park that universal was trying to buy out a neighboring golf course for diagon alley..... I don't really count my source as reliable or actually know the geography of the neighboring land to the park to figure out how this could possibly work, but it's still an interesting idea.

100% true.

In regards to Hippogriff. they probably went with Mack due to scheduling. Vekoma has multiple huge rides opening between now and 2016.

I highly doubt it'll be much different.

I'm not an expert on copyright law for roller coaster engineering, but can Universal Creative just give Mack the same layout as a Vekoma Roller Skater? I mean, Roller Skaters are extremely common to the point of them being the coaster equivalent of a flat ride installation. I'm not expecting any major changes, but there is some food for thought there.

Well, I don't think a coaster layout is copyrighted. I mean...it's basically a bunch of turns and squiggles designed for the space it'll be occupying. The coaster cars and wheels might be proprietary, as well as how it rides the track, but not the layout itself.

Just did a side-by-side comparison, and the track layout is identical. The only differences I noticed are cosmetic (wooden fences replaced with stone barriers, empty areas filled with more foliage, etc), and I think the queue layout might be a little different.

Got a question William :) . The hollywood version of WWOHP what's going to make it different then the other two ? Since Orlando has dueling dragons and Japan has the black lake ?

So far, our Hogsmeade seems to be identical to Japan's with the exception of the Black Lake. There's still quite a lot of open space between Hogsmeade and Hogwarts Castle, so some have speculated a representation of the Forbidden Forest somehow. Nothing is confirmed yet.
