Spoiler: Timber Mountain log ride at KBF is a better ride. I’m excited to see a re-theme on splash.

KBF seems to be the closest analogue in CA to IOA in that it has both big coasters and themed rides.

Rumor-mongering that they won't redo the WDW Splash because it "doesn't make sense" seems just as baseless as the rumors that Disney wasn't actually gonna go through with Avatar. They announced the ride, and have removed song references from the parks. It's leaving.

All I see here is someone that likes Splash and dislikes the change and is stirring up a nonexistent rumor out of thin air.

I’m gonna need to see a lot more than this from actual reputable people before I believe it.

I mean it’s my favorite Knotts ride but would never switch the log ride for Splash

Yeah. Splash has been one of my favorite dark rides, but because I've been expecting it to kick the bucket and for understandable reasons, I've tried to detach myself from it--because I fear I'll come across as looking like that ahem, gentleman who wrote that Sentinel op-ed if I get upset about it. Basically I've been kind of pretending it doesn't exist. But I stumbled upon that video and it piqued my curiosity, because it has been odd that they didn't bother saying when they'd do it--normally when a park announces an attraction is going to the retirement home, they give a date.

To be fair, the announcement was made at a time when announcing a date for ANYTHING was a mug's game.

Disney has a history of announcing things with no timeline. It may take nearly a decade, but typically the bigger announcements eventually come to fruition.

Just some rational thinking and you'd know that the blowback of this rumor being true would be a much bigger problem than any of the blowbacks they're getting for doing away with Splash. The only reason I let this discussion continue is on the very small off-chance that the rumor is legit - even though I think it's more along the lines of someone's wishful thinking than actual intel. As Nick said, if more prominent rumormongers start sharing the same info then I'd start paying more attention. Until then, tread very carefully on this convo...

I just have very little desire to go back to MK for the foreseeable future. HM and SM were THE attractions there for me (both were in my top five favorite dark rides), and one of them has become tainted in the last year.

I haven't been to a Disney park since last Summer (possible early fall at the latest) and tbh, I don't miss it. Going to the park with a mask was not enjoyable, but more importantly (and why I didn't renew my pass) park hopping not being an option and having to get a reservation every time you we wanted to go just became very annoying. At the price I paid for an AP, I couldn't re-up knowing that that's what i'd be dealing with again.

I cancelled my Disney Pass as well. There's really nothing compelling happening at the moment

And I'm not really interested in just having a pass for Rise, which I may or may not be able to ride when I go

This is why I'm glad to see rides being less safe from change as time goes on

Obviously problematic depictions need to be addressed, of course, that's the major priority

But MK specifically has a legacy problem that leads to things being "untouchable"

MK in particular just feels so suffocating to me. The pathways are tight + it's the most attended park in the world = pain (I like big crowds because of what lack thereof means, but none of the other parks in the area have so consistently given such a feeling of being herded like cattle). It always feels orders of magnitude hotter than the others (I know this is how many feel about DAK, of course). It's also the most inconvenient to get to and from, bar none. The food is also...lacking, and the tap water there tastes especially sulfuric. On top of that, it's where WDW's lack of any thrill coaster is most glaring (even if one would fit better in the other three, it's still where I'm most reminded of it if that makes sense).

Combine with the state of Epcot (a part of me died with Reflections of Earth :'() and I would argue the younger two WDW parks are vastly superior to their older siblings at this point.

I can't even imagine skipping out on Magic Kingdom when I take trips to Orlando.

Pound for pound, it's still the Orlando park with the most to do, the greatest variety of offerings, and the most nostalgia (i.e. most of the attractions I enjoyed as a child are still there).

I wish I could say the same about my beloved Epcot and Universal Studios Florida.

IOA's a healthy #2 for me. Would need another 2 - 3 traditional dark rides to really challenge MK.

I seriously think Disney planned to re-theme Splash Mountain this year, but the pandemic pretty much throws them off the charts. As a result, it's safe to say that SM would continue to operate throughout summer, fall and winter.

Disney makes it hard to schedule a visit. It's like they're so arrogant they want you to kiss theirs. That said, I really love their parks but I hate their management philosophy.
