Sounds like word of mouth is killing their business. That's going to take a lot of work, marketing and operations, to change that negative perception. They probably need to publicly apologize and start over with a completely new affordable food menu and operations. The worst thing they can do is to 'cut' entertainment and service. That'll just accelerate the troubles.

New theory... Universal is closing all these Citywalk locations to force guests into Toothsome, as there will soon be literally no other place to shop or eat.

You must eat at toothsome or be stuck in city walk for eternity

The one in Orlando is always crazy busy too. They really need to try better. Podcast the Ride has mentioned how bad the experience has been several times too.

Orlando has a different clientele of visitors vs USH that makes the concept of Toothsome click better there. Plus better chefs apparently.

Bigger portions first, and reasonable prices second. Nothing like them setting your plate down and you say “that’s it?” Antojitos has this problem too. Portions are way too small.

Plus after Coivd they got ride of free Chips

I used to eat at Antojitos more...and went on my first date with my now wife but we just don't go back because its LA you can find as good if not better Mexican places in LA/The Valley (shout out to salsa and beer, which not only provide pree chips but this also bean dip with it)

Interesting. I always experienced portions at Toothsome Universal Orlando that were huge, more than we could comfortably finish. I stopped ordering appetizers because the entree portions were so large, and prices were reasonable for a theme park setting. It sounds like the Hollywood Toothsome had a Chapek like direction that has contributed to their failure thus far. Bad decisions at opening haunt restaurants.

Which is so odd to me that they can’t get it right in a location like LA. You have access to some of the best restaurants and chefs in the country.

So Uni Creative seriously couldn’t figure some concepts that work specifically for the Hollywood park ?

Hopefully they decide to finally give the West coast a proper budget to fix up their City Walk like they’ve done to Orlando the past several years.

I wonder if more things do close in citywalk...no joke will this place just pick up because...the options are so limited? Or will people ignore it and head into the park or keep using the food court

I mean if they only have this and like 2 other sit down places...and people still don't go that would be kinda insane

I did poke my head into Toothsome tonight, and it was actually pretty busy. Bottom floor was about 75% full, and it appeared they were seating a few people upstairs. And multiple groups were waiting for tables. Bar seemed pretty busy as well. So it's not 100% down for the count.

If anything, the Milkshake bar was dead (but it should also be noted it was freezing out tonight, so it wasn't exactly milkshake weather).

season 8 beatnik GIF

But seriously, it is off season, many shops are closed at Citywalk and nothing has really changed. I doubt the situation is just magically going to get better

Tried going to Toothsome tonight and I was denied the ability to eat there cause I was by myself and they were only allowing groups of two or more to eat there. The restaurant was not crowded. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

That is really unfortunate to hear. If that happened to me, I would never go back to the establishment, regardless of size of party.

Wow, that’s unheard of outside of Korean BBQ. If Toothsome started serving KBBQ I might actually go…

That is genuine scum behavior. Hope you brought it up with guest relations; as that's really unfortunate.

Yeah, it was really bizarre. I’ve never experienced that before. I did a double take when they said it to me. I thought they were joking.

I've never heard of that in my life. What the heck?

Is this a Cali thing? I've eaten at the one alone in Orlando with zero problems... :lmao:

I’ve eaten by myself at Toothsome in the past and it’s never been a problem.
