Honestly the only other thing I can think of is Fantasmic closing. The amount of space that area takes up could be a land with 2 rides. Please don’t close ToT. It’s timeless.

Much smaller than that apparently.

My understanding is it's a much more short-term thing. Think about what they could throw into a park with just a few months of planning, that doesn't involve major construction or WDI.

Regarding Dr. Strange for ToT... I'm going to preface this by saying this is Tinfoil Hat Handsome Pete talking, but it would not be an entirely new idea for a retheme of the DHS version.

The important part of the Marvel Universal contract is that Disney cannot use characters that appear in IOA or any character within the family that the character belongs to. The closest Disney has come so far to this is the Guardians, who aren't really Avengers because they're their own family.

But is Dr. Strange an Avenger now? In 2016 I would say no, but based on the role he's taken in some of the newer movies, I think it's a bit more debatable whether he is.

What's a good way to judge whether or not Universal thinks Dr. Strange is an Avenger? I dunno, maybe throwing him out on the streets unannounced for (what appears to be) a single night at a hard ticket event. No phone call from Universal complaining about that? Guess they don't think he's an Avenger ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

No inside info... I'm skeptical that ToT is actually on the chopping block but found that to be incredibly odd move for a holiday event.

He wasn't considered an Avenger when the deal was made, so I don't think that really matters as long as Disney doesn't use The Avengers branding.

I love ToT just the way it is. But...if it gets a re-theme a Who Framed Roger Rabbit theme could be cool as it works with the vintage Hollywood theme.

Dr. Strange and Guardians are currently part of one of the nightly projection map spectaculars that has happened nightly at DHS for years. I feel like that wouldn't be the case if Disney or Universal thought he was off-limits at WDW.

Dr. Strange seems to not fall under any family Universal owns. While he may have been an Avenger and had crossover appearances in other comics, his comic publication history dictates he was essentially a stand-alone character. This is why he was featured in a Meet & Greet at Disney’s Hollywood Studios during marketing for the 2016 film.
