Annnounced at D23–Universal will be working in the coming years to bring The Simpsons Treehouse of Horror to HHN.

Beginning this year—the rollout will begin with themed food options coming to the event, with experiences later on.

I...did not expect to hear this at D23 of all places.

This is like announcing GTA7 at Blizzcon.

I remember hearing murmurs of FFN Opening Night that someone caught USH taking photos with the merch lines coming for this, and it always fascinated me.

The implications of what this is doing seems to be big to note for the future of our Springfield. And while there is no experiences this year; I am excited to see how they translate it for food.

I believe the implication of what was said was that this year will just be themed food, and in upcoming years it will be experiences, so I think its guaranteed at least through HHN 2027 too.

Franky since idk if Disney sees enough value in Simpsons to justify taking them back for the forseeable future, we may get Treehouse of Horror stuff through the end of the 2020s. If anything, if they wanted to do a new ride film or something as an overlay, that would be a good excuse to refresh the normal ride film as well to justify a renewed contract or something. Wishful thinking though.

My guess is in Orlando based on the proximity of the Sprung tents to Springfield, they will get a haunted house in 2027. My notion is if the contract is still set to expire in 2028. this will be like a fitting last hurrah for the Simpsons time at Universal.

A Treehouse of Horror maze would be a wild announcement and I'd be curious to see it. I wonder if that or a ride overlay (with the same motions) would be cheaper.

First time hearing about this. As everyone else has said, this is wild to see! I saw the thread title and had to click to see if it was a generic zone about killer squirrels or something haha. There's just no way they actually got Disney to play ball after all these years? And yet, here we are!

This is definitely the most involved Disney has been with a Universal Studios project afaik, maybe outside of the Hulk retrack or Spidey's refresh in Orlando? It feels like a test for the Simpsons IP. Simpsons seems to fit the tone and demographics of the UDX parks far more than it does within Disney's.

Maybe if this goes really well they expand to other HHN events? Maybe this points to extended contracts on both coasts? Or maybe Disney takes their ball and goes home right after this wraps. Very very curious to see what happens here going forward!

We're seeing Disney operate without Iger at the helm or orchestrating things from behind the scenes for the first time in decades, and D'Amario came up through the parks, not on the media side. It's probably too early to tell but he might not have the same zero sum game outlook on IP in parks that's been Disney's MO in living memory.
