Well, I suppose it's better that the press release immediately specifies, but I can't help but feel my excitement docked a tiny bit. I'm not gonna say more than I've already said other than how I really hope Universal doesn't keep these undubbed forever, and please let em know on the surveys if you concur.

Other than that, glad to see our DWT Tennant announced.

When I heard of this coming back in the last year, I was really happy to see this IP being brought over.

When we consider classic anime, Dragonball, Evangelion, and Sailor Moon are in the top of the echelon for iconic and defining anime IP's for what they mean in entertainment. I can understand why some would rather have My Hero; but I think this is a strong choice as it stands. On-par with the likes of Star Trek for how big it is in pop culture too, imo.

My Hero I think would also make sense but this is a W

Like its a Classic and also a little more Female focused as well. Its a smart choice

My Fingers are crossed for Frieren: Beyond Journey's End next year.

Hopefully we get a XR experience with the wraparound screens of DreamWorks Theater next year (like say, the Final Fantasy one), or the Godzilla x Evangelion film. Either option would be fantastic choices for the venue.

I do think what you bring up is also a fantastic note on female representation being a big motivator too with Sailor Moon. I can think of a handful of japanese anime IP's that cater to a strong female market, and Sailor Moon is quite easily on the top of the list. It's a well deserved slot-in.

I was braced for a lack of one, and I was still displeased to find that out because of my past experience. Just because there's factors to why it's not likely doesn't mean it can't be criticized.

Don't get me wrong, I think it's very good to see this IP represented and I concur with what @Viator was saying about its legacy as a classic IP. I was by no means trying to say it's a waste just because it's undubbed. I'm just hoping undubbed films ultimately end up as early year kinks that would later be ironed out.

I actually agree with @Clive--unless something changes internally, there isn't an incentive to really put in the extra effort for the sake of getting a full english voiceover for a project that wasn't intended to be english.

I think if we ever get custom films for FFN, especially if Orlando decides to join us, then that becomes a fair question. But for now, the math isn't quite mathing.

I'd rather the money go to Characters meeting from the anime over a Dub

Like Dubs aren't cheap and I'd rather the money go into improving the event more

I'm a Dub person I don't watch Subs but for this....whatever. Its a 10 mins or less show I can read for a few mins and its not like these are really that well written...bad guy comes and does bad things and hero's stop him...lol

Let’s be real: getting a legit dub would cost money. I would much rather they leave it undubbed and put subtitles in there than take away from the event.

Besides, if they did get a dub, it would be the most half-baked dub you could imagine. I don’t want the voice actors sounding like they just want a paycheck like Neve Campbell and Courtney Cox in Scream 7

I agree with you on the Money

But lets not go after Dub actors. I have no doubt if JJK and Chainsaw man were dubbed with the same actors from the Dub it would have been great. Just because Scream had people in it for the money doesn't mean everyone else is like that

Sean Schemmel for example has been doing Goku for over 30 years and still gives us insane amount of energy in his screams when he powers up to a new form

That was unnecessary.

Sure, subs might be expected at an event like this, where subs are often viewed by the target audience of this show. But you do not need to attack an entire line of work like that. Voice actors are talented people, and not everyone is as bad as the example you provided. Good dubs exist, and those same voice actors are part of the reason they're good. We can debate whether anime shows from USJ need dubs at FFN, but jabs like that are just not OK.

Flying Dinosaurs being added up top? Or The Mobile Lab falling? Or something else?
