Was there any truth to Jaws speculation? Or is that not beloved to be in the park anymore? I think a universal park showcasing the three eras of Spielberg sounds really cool (Jaws, Back To The Future, Jurassic), especially if they also end up doing a version of his show from Beijing. Really speaks to my sensibilities and the era of Universal I'm a fan of.

There was some thoughts that the little area in the bottom right looked like it could be themed to Jaws. Not a land, or even necessarily a full attraction, but a nod to the films, photo op, somewhere to eat etc.
But it's all speculation of course.

If Universal UK recreates major attractions that have already been dumped by Orlando, because it wants to be seen as the nostalgia park, I think it will fail to attract the number of visitors it wants. Jaws was a great movie (not so much the sequels, though), but it’s already 50 years old, will be closer to 60 by the time the park opens. For many families it’s an IP that they have very little engagement with, for plenty of young people they’ll be largely unaware of it beyond the general knowledge that it’s a movie about a shark. Doesn’t seem like a great foundation on which to build an E-ticket attraction. If Universal largely clone the ride that used to exist in Orlando to a modern day audience used to Forbidden Journey, Ride of the Resistance, Jurassic World Adventure, etc, it will seem extremely poor by comparison. Even back in the day I didn’t think it was a great attraction, being cheesy and having very little repeat ride value when you knew where the jump scares would be. Today it would be laughably bad. Universal can do better, and must do better

Didn’t work for me so this should work.

https://archive.ph/2025.05.04-042654/https://www.ft.com/content/7c90a253-0cfd-4522-8ed0-c6816cf3e555

Tbh I wouldn’t have sold until it had gotten to this stage anyway, and I wouldn’t try and wrangle as much as possible from Universal.

But if anyone refuses to move (it doesn’t sound like they will) they’ll just be hit with a CPO.

So it’s finding that line where they’re still willing to pay over the odds, but if you cross the line they’ll just stop conversing CP the property and you’ll financially lose out.

It's entirely possible that the movie theatre facade on the Hollywood street is the "Lights! Camera! Action! Hosted by Steven Spielberg" attraction's ENTRANCE and the ride will EXIT you out into the Jaws mini-area - an appropriate finale for a Spielberg themed attraction!

Not sure they would plan to dump you out in a completely different area of the park.

That sounds fun, but having the entrance and exit in different areas would be awkward for things like stroller parking, don't want to be dumped out a long walk from where your stroller / pushchair is. I hope we do get our own version of the Spielberg special effects show.

They could add an indoor pathway and possibly stroller parking between Jaws area and the entry to the show.

I keep looking at the potential Back To The Future Coaster in the concept art, and I can’t help but think there’s not enough track to get up to 88mph.

Don’t read into the track layout too much, it’s much more a placeholder than accurate. I’d say the same even for Jurassic World.

thats the exit for Lights Camera Action, it's just incorporation of the Hollywood theme for this section of the park

I disagree, they are brand new layouts, the time for placeholders was on the original leaked artwork, where they lifted Stardust and Hulk to represent having two coasters, for example hulk interacting with the Aviary. We might get tweaks to layouts that's something that happened with certain other rides, but when you look at the way Intamin work in the design process with clients, if its been drawn into the concept art then its come from Intamin's proprietary Design software and is at least the first rendering of a completed coaster. These layouts were the one thing that seem locked down with Hotel placement. .

I hear you, good points. My only thing is maybe the spike is a top hat instead, little things like that. Not an entirely different layout. If the coaster doesn’t go 88mph than I’d be shocked.

My first reaction, as misread the pic in the excitement was a tophat i personally think its probably more fun than a spike, but then i realised it didnt make any sense on the rest of the layout, but almost certainly for the practicalities of the ground the launch covers that the spike will need to be WAY taller if they want to go to 88mph. Stealth at thorpe park is 62metres tall and peaks at 80mph.......I calculated they have drawn the spike as 54metres which is probably how tall the smaller spike is (I think coaster geeks worked out the height from the supports - i found a comparable height spike coaster with matching supports thats around that heigh), I would guess its closer to the limit they set out in the consultation, which escapes me right now

I think the maximum height for a “component” was 115m, so just shy of the height of the wind turbine south of Stewartby.

What’s your view Tommy on the rail line on the right hand side in the concept art? Only one side of the universal land actually touches a rail line, and if it’s intentional it doesn’t add up to their outline in the PDF at the consultation…

Perhaps someone just drew in a random train line because they heard there were 2 nearby?

88 mph would make the coaster the 10th fastest coaster in the world. That's not really Universal's MO.

It doesnt have to really go at 88MPH but there could be a counter or readout screen saying thats the speed, Velocicoaster doesnt go that fast but it bloody feels like it when you're on it!
