I agree, I'd prefer a longer ride with the sensation of speed, then have that actual speed and the ride being over in a minute, plus the ride needs to operate in the rain, and that hitting your face at 88mph isn't pleasant.

Would still be fun if the ride was only about trying to get to 88mph but failing, would explain the whole roll back looking section and multiple launches. Actually hitting 88mph and traveling in time also wouldn't really work thematically, even if they themed the unloading area as 2015/1960, which would be cool, you would still walk out to what I presume is 80's Hill Valley, unless I can buy a Pepsi Perfect, whats the point!

I wondered whether there would be a flash / electricity typeof effect when the coaster cars hit the top of the spike at 88 and possibly rotates 180° degrees to go back down the track facing forward after a brief “stall” at the peak. All to mimick the time travel effect.

The weightlessness, turn, and visual effects at the top of the spike could be quite an incredible sensation before hurtling back down the track facing forward. Also you’d see the other side of the ride building which wouldn’t be visible on the initial launch, so it could give the impression we’ve travelled somewhere else? I dunno, I’m clutching at straws here.

I guess the way the coaster goes out into the trees and grass area on the launch, they could add “Lion Estates” entrance blocks, a billboard, and multi coloured bunting.

Riding it at about 5pm in November, you’d have the darkness and rain needed to recreate the end of Back To The Future 2.

Imagine bursting out into the cold and rain with the intense music playing, doc and Marty’s voice, then flying up into the dark sky, bursts of light and electricity weightlessness and a spin, then back down to navigate the rest of the track. I’d say would be pretty immersive. Sorry universal, it may need some tweaks lol.

I expect a 88mph coaster, put a 240 foot spike on it and call it the tallest coaster in the UK too

I would expect heavy lighting effects around 1.21 gigawatts when the 'car' reaches the peak of the coaster.

Surely if you're building a BTTF coaster you're doing it because it's going to get to 88mph and it's going to look like a Delorean. These feel like pretty important story beats to me.

I'm probably too much of a wimp to ever ride it, but I'm excited to stand in the general vicinity of it listening to the iconic soundtrack. I'll be in the gift shop buying up all the merch!

The previous BTTF ride went zero miles an hour and looked like a small bus, so the bar is pretty low!

Maybe I can’t exactly go off the concept art but the coaster trains looked like a funny neon colour. Almost like they may be themed around hoverboards? I feel the like the Delorean would play a role somewhere in the ride experience. Maybe some indoor scenes before you launch outside.

Ooh I could go with hoverboards. And they don't have to go at 88mph.

I don’t see how it wouldn’t launch 88 because the facts are going to have to be public and they aren’t going to advertise a speed not 88mph.

Go 0-74mph in just 3 seconds is not something that can be said for BTTF. If you’re making a launch coaster it’s going 88.

Make it the most innovative, most highly themed, most story-laden coaster in the world and who cares what speed it goes…? Surely that’s what Universal is all about, not chasing speed/height/inversion records?

Rotating DeLoreans, 88 mph, 3 maybe 4 inversions, and on board audio?

They will have UOR fanboys booking flights.

Every coaster advertises some form of stats somewhere. A press release, a news article. It will be public info too. Veloicioaster loves to advertise its 70mph launch or hulks 0-40 in 2seconds on an incline.

They aren’t going to say blast off to 88mph in the queue line for theme and then not go that fast. Why scare people off when you don’t have too? Or why then make a ride sound less fun? (Actually it’s only 60mph don’t worry). I just don’t see a way around having a coaster without creating a pointless (yes minor dumb) issue.

It’s also very easy to launch a ride 88mph these days…

Why make a coaster go 76 when you can make it go 88?

If it’s a family coaster sure, simulate going 88 by going 40 and say so but why make a thrill coaster that goes 90% the speed already? Why make a coaster the 2nd tallest and fastest in the UK?

Obviously no one knows but it’s hard to imagine the pitch of BTTF coaster isn’t launching 88mph but 73 or something haha….

Dad look they made a Back to the future coaster!!!

no way does it go 88mph!!!???

Nawww, 78

"Doc Brown has done some more experiments and with a double dose of plutonium and a lightning strike you only need to get up to 66mph now folks!"
