Universal has filed a trademark application for SCARECROW: THE REAPING. Since this has been the name for an original Halloween Horror Nights house in both Orlando and Hollywood, it's possible it is being registered for use at the future Universal Horror Unleashed in Las Vegas.bsky.app
I think Scarecrow, Jack’s Fearhouse, Horrors of Blumhouse, and Monsters (like the original) is the right mix.
I think the zeitgeist moves too fast for something like that, especially now. Using something more evergreen is a safer bet (Halloween would be safe, but its rights are too complicated for something enduring like this). Scarecrow is actually fairly indicative of a somewhat “safe” concept. I think Blumhouse would serve as the “big grab.” And, if they’re smart, they’d lay that house in a way where scenes can be skipped, and therefore switched out with the current Blumhouse movie. Some scenes stay constant (The Purge, Insidious, Get Out, Us, M3GAN), while the other 5 scenes can rotate individually.Part of me wonders if they'd even do Universal Monsters. Shocking, I know; but I wonder if they'd opt for a big "Frontliner" IP that could headline the location for a 2 year period. Something like The Weeknd (due to the After Hours connections with Vegas), Halloween, or something else that'd be a big "GP" grab.
Probably not initially, but since these house will constantly be rotating I say the odds are good for something eventually. Are we expecting anything from Peele?
From Parker, IPs for Horror Unleashed seemingly will be The Exorcist, Halloween, and Universal Monsters.
I bet the Tribute Store (gift shop) could feature him, since the original house appears to be Scarecrow: The Reaping. For branding, I figured Jack the Clown would be around in some capacity. I wonder if they'll have him on site as a sort of carnival barker, or they could theme the food, beverage and merch to the circus to justify having him there.
I think it'd be silly not to have a main character to help sell the space, but then again they can lean on the IPs for that too.
