Just did my visit, have a lot of thoughts and pointers (mostly good!). The TL;DR version:
- Had a great time overall. For the haunt enthusiast, I recommend unlimited maze visits. Casual fans, one is probably fine.
- We stayed for 5 hours. This included visiting each maze 3-4 times and eating dinner.
- Scan the QR code in front of most mazes to get operating, show, character times, and map (seen below). Mazes run for 45 min, then take 15 min breaks, but all mazes have their own unique schedule.
The details (and I posted many pics at my Bluesky if you want to see them), largely spoiler free--more operational tips and experiences:
I agree with everyone else with rankings, #4 Exorcist Believer, #3 TCM, Monsters and Scarecrow are virtually tied for me, though I give a slight edge to Monsters. But even Exorcist is not terrible. We did each maze 3-4 times.
If you're a haunt fan, you'll want to spend a lot of time here and do the mazes multiple times. The mazes are overall well-staffed, but like HHN on both coasts, there can be minor variations in run throughs. All mazes are supposed to have a "show" scene. TCM was very, very consistent with theirs. Exorcist tried, but sometimes would get backed up, and it could be hit or miss. Monsters actually paused and asked us if we'd like to see the how. Scarecrow kind of didn't even really bother, and just mostly made it another room. We did notice that there would be minor staffing differences between runs, which is why we recommend multiple runs if you are able to. For instance, there was one additional mini-show scene in TCM with Sally just before entering the woods that we only saw 2 times out of 4 run throughs.
Despite that, overall, the maze management and experience was generally consistent, and the differences wouldn't likely be super noticeable unless you're an uber fan. We went on a Sunday night after Christmas, so it wasn't too crowded... the longest line we had was maybe 15 min, and about 1/2 the time we were alone and walked right on. They do try to pulse in the guests with a 30-40 second pause between parties (they did not group parties, and you can go in alone if you're solo!), but even with these, when there was a line, we often did find ourselves running into other parties about half-way through mazes, creating an unwelcome conga line after all. They do allow photography in mazes, just no flash.
Be sure to explore the entire area first... when you enter, the first maze you see is Monsters, so it often gets a longer line for that reason, but you can do the mazes in any order you like. And if you are a scenery/design enthusiast, there's a LOT of props to see. They also are very good at generally having some sort of entertainment (show, performer, or characters) maybe every 15 min or less. It's pretty continuous. There are also some smaller, unannounced scene setting effects, like the two seen below (but they are not on any sort of schedule or anything).
There are roaming scareactors, but they are more of the "slow burn, we'll follow you intently and stare you down" type, and not the aggressive, in your face scareactors that we see in the Hollywood scare zones. Just before entering TCM, one of the scare actors grabbed a guest from line, tied him up (with the guest screaming, "This isn't part of the show!") and took a chainsaw to him. It was pretty funny, and just one of the many things that may just "happen" while you're there, and there's a bit of the luck of the draw of whether you get to see it all or not. But the longer you stay, the more you'll probably get to see.
We ate at the main restaurant, Premier House, and it was pretty good. You get character interactions either with Grabber or M3gan every 30 min, but you don't have to be a guest of the restaurant to go in and meet them. They also have a few props and photo ops there. The food wasn't bad, and shockingly affordable... most entrees were in the $14-16 range. I do wish it had a bit more theming, but we still enjoyed it.
Shopping is pretty good. About 40% of the items are things we've already seen at HHN/USH, but a lot was new to us, and there's a fair amount of specific merch. And each maze has it's own merch (though again, some of it repeated HHN/USH merch).
To me, the only major problem is that I think they should install monitors that list all the operating times for the mazes and shows. It was a real pain to keep checking my phone over and over again to see what mazes were open and when performances were going to happen. If think if that info were posted on monitors, it would make things a lot easier. I realize it may break some immersion, but they already have monitors at each maze location anyway (showing security cam footage!), so it wouldn't be tough for them to add operating times.
Last, but not least, when talking with one employee, they mentioned something that they admitted is unsubstantiated, but is a rumor nevertheless... but they want to get Terrifier as the next property there. If that ended up replacing Exorcist, that would be a pretty big get. And also seems like a no-brainer to me, if they can get it to work out. Again, this is NOT a credible rumor, just hearsay (literally the Dippin' Dots guy), but its one that makes a lot of sense to me.
