I really doubt it'll ever be offered for attractions with high express demand, like Hagrid.

Not sure where to include this... but looks like UOR is testing "single attraction" express passes now. $25 for a one-time ride on Kong or Mummy is absurd lol.

It was only a matter of time for them to follow Disney.

If that will be executed I will never set foot in Universal Studios ever again, just like I did with Disney.

Front-of-line access, whether free or paid, was one of the worst developments in the history of the theme park industry (from a guest vantage point).

I think it's meant to work in conjunction with, not as a replacement.

I seem to recall that a decade or so ago Universal had a plate of different types express/fast pass tiers available, and with
different names. It was quite confusing.
But, I don't recall individual ride passes offered.

They had Express and Q-Bot a LONG time ago. Q-Bot was sort of a mess and thankfully they got rid of it.

Yeah, that's it. I couldn't remember the name. It was a confusing mess for sure.

I'm no fan of a single express pass, but I wonder if they did offer it on top tier rides like a Hagrid's:

1. Would that push people to get that instead of unlimited, so then putting less people overall into all of the Express queues?
2. Would it be seen as a revnue line (similar to how Disney views it) to justify higher budget points when creating new rides?

Either way, $25 for Mummy or Kong is ridiculous. They'd definitely have to tinker with the options.

This is an interesting thought actually - how many people buy express specifically with 2 or 3 rides in mind?

It would be a more fundamental shift in how they approach Express. This up charge is specifically because Express is under used at mummy and kong and they figure they can sell some of that capacity. Hagrid on the other hand is probably nearly 100% used its express, and if Hagrid was to switch to a single attraction access express I’d imagine they’d totally drop the standard express option for it. I don’t think they’ll do that as it’ll fundamentally change the product.

I mean it's been working out great for Disney for years. It's called iLL+ now or something like that and they have it on 1 or 2 of the most popular rides per park.

Hagrid's with express is already insanely long.. They'd have to approach $40-$50, no?

Sure it's making money for the company, but in Disney's case insiders suggest that it's more of a re-allocation of people's budget versus incremental spend (aka less table service dining in favor of ILL).

I'm just wary of this product's future as it'll find its way to the lower capacity Nintendo and Potter attractions at Epic.

Pretty crazy when I check Disneyland and Rise is $29 - which seems relatively fair to me. $25 for Kong?!

How would Express lower capacity? Unless you mean stand by capacity going down, which I agree with. But that comes back to my point of how it's using under ulitized Express capacity, not creating more.

But the ONLY way to skip the line for Rise is ILL, whereas this is another option to purchasing full day Express. I do agree the pricing is out of line and something closer to $10 would be better.

Doesn’t that make it worse?! Rise should be like $45 if Kong is $25 :lmao:

I believe what Joe is trying to convey is that there is no other option for Disney. It’s just LL.

With Universal, they’re offering this in conjunction with their normal Express offerings. They’d prefer if you invested in that, but if you’re adamant that you just want a specific attraction, you gotta pay.

Standby capacity is what I am referring to. It's already limited as it is at Epic Universe and Hagrid, I can't imagine the impact on a ride like Donkey Kong or Mario Kart.

I just think all these mini-upcharges add up over time and people really despise them. If they do this at HHN... good lord. I also think it encourages the park to exaggerate wait-times, especially later in the evening when some of the ILL attractions are ideal to hit up.

It would be a nightmare for HHN, but I don't think we need to worry about that lol
