Yeah, that and some kind of fire effect on the rails after the launch.

I want BTTF to be Test Track-ish, not a coaster

Yeah, it needs to be as much of a DeLorean (and not no Rock 'N Roller Coaster "stretch" DeLorean) as possible, and a dark ride as well.

Have you tried turning it off and on again?

Probably, but when you're riding it you wouldn't see it anyway, so they'd probably not bother.

Maybe just a projection, not actual fire. The track wouldn't last long... XD

I agree with this.

I watched the stream of the Skyplex meeting from beginning to end. One of the proponents of Skyplex simply said he suspects that Universal has the contract on this land. Then some website picked that up, and then it caught on fire. There was absolutely no confirmation. The guy announced his assumption to help back his pro-Skyplex argument.

Well actually the report started way before Kantor and Wallack said anything about Universal's contract option for the land. They further fanned the flames, then the county commissioners confirmation stoked the fire even more.

Their people told people at the thing last night it's under contract and they expect a quick close.

In theory, once they have the land, how long do parks take to build? 10-15 years?

Also, are they're enough construction crews to continue working on upgrades as a new park is built? Or would we see a lull?

Construction began on IOA in 1997 and it opened in 1999. So really, as long as they have designs down they could open the park really quickly.

Is it possible that Universal will once again push the envelope and reinvent the theme park experience? Comcast will be able to start from square one with this and I'm guessing whatever they design will push the boundaries of themed experiences and maximize revenue. I wouldn't want to predict what they will do with this land but you can bet that whatever they do will be groundbreaking and different.

I think it would be a great effect to anybody watching but it sounds too dangerous/risky for the real world. If the timing fails and you're launched into a fireball....

The plans for the 2nd gate was announced in 1993, albiet not IOA exactly, and that project had a number of various delays revolving around IPs. With Comcast at the helm, it'd be possible for a 3rd gate to open in time for WDW's 50th. Whoa.

I love the aggressiveness for Universal. I remember when Universal Blvd wasn't quite built out yet on the southern side.

It's nice to see this. The county has a real zoning issue though. Too much resedential on universal Blvd imo but i hope this works. Universal will have land between a missile factory, one of the bigger sanitation plants in the county, and the second largest convention center in the country. Should be interesting lol.

On the way to school I used to see all of the cranes at IOA and it literally was the fastest transformation of a marsh land i had seen at the time.

I was a kid but architecture and construction was everything to me.

There were buildings in downtown Orlando going up as fast or a hair slower than islands of adventure lol.

It would be cool if they could do it with some sort of fake fire effect. Can you imagine how cool that would look from the ground....seeing the Delorean as a launch coaster with flashing lights and fire effects as it blasts off to 88mph?

Universal is all about thrill but 88mph is insane for G forces in the open and depending on the height and ascending angle. Have to be careful not to scare families away. Lol

Is building a monorail, gondola or other form of elevated transportation even be possible for Universal to do since they don't own the land in between the two properties?
