Genuinely asking, how is it fixed? Are they going string up horrible shade structures like Epcot used to have?

You know those tents they use for HHN?

That, but bigger!

Honestly, IDK. I just know they’re aware of it and are working on it.

A good friend of mine went on Monday and had an incredible day. That was only 2 days ago. I think some folks just got unlucky today.

Was there monday as well, and we had an excellent time for the most part. The Ministry VQ was frustrating, but it does seem like they are actively tweaking a lot right now.

Well I visited yesterday and today. Boy was it night and day. Yesterday every ride was working and I had a great time. Even though Ingot there around 3pm I managed to ride almost everything. Deciding to leave Minecart Madness for the next day, and ministry as it did not open at all even though I got a VQ. Loved the park had an amazing time and thought universal really created one of the best theme parks in the world.

Today I came back with my husband, he probably has very different opinions based on our day. We used early park admission and went to stardust racers which was down. Went over to Donkey Kong just tho learn it would not open at all. By this time Mario Kart had a crazy line so we decided to go to monsters. Rode Warewolf after a short delay. Then headed out to hiccups which slowed operations down to 2 trains while we were in line.

Monsters went down and by this point all the tensing rides open had a 70+ wait. We managed to get VQ for Ministry and when we were in line it went down. We decided to wait in line for 3 hours, not because we wanted, but because at this point everything else in the park was delayed or closed.

We did manage to ride ministry (twice) because it broke down mid ride. And rode Mario kart before close. I understand it previews, but this park is 13 day’s feo opening day and the problem 1 or 2 closed rides just makes the lines baloon like crazy.

Hopefully it all gets figured out because day 1 for me it was one of the best theme parks in the world. Day 2 my husband feels riped off and doesn’t feel like coming back for a while.

As non-local / overseas passholders, who incidentally spend thousands at UOR every year due to extended stays on property, the inconsistency in the messaging has been frustrating.

We originally booked to come over to be there for the 22nd May when the date was announced. We bought park tickets for Grand Opening (along with the 24th and the 26th) and booked Helios for a couple of nights from the 22nd, which was also said to be its grand opening date - only for Helios to suddenly open up at only a few days notice, its grand opening date to be moved to this new date, and to watch from afar as other APs got to experience very low capacity preview dates.

When the previews were recently extended - with an email entitled ‘Passholders: More Preview Ticket Dates Available’ - my wife and I moved our outbound flights three days earlier (at a cost), booked three nights at Helios (at a cost) and bought preview tickets (at a cost). We also switched the park tickets we had for the 24th May to an additional day of preview tickets, even though we had already bought a multi-day express pass that covered that date - figuring that an additional day of low capacity previews would be a better option than a regular day with an express pass. Now we're not so sure this was the right move, but its too late to do anything about it.

I do of course understand that these previews are meant to stress test the park, so I don’t take issue with the preview capacity increasing - but they could have easily announced that they would be opened up to additional cohorts of guests when they were recently announced. Without them doing so it does feel like a bit of a bait and switch and doesn’t make me feel particularly valued as a long term passholder.

...and after all of that, Battle at the Minitry will now be closed for the two preview dates we're flying out early to attend. Wonderful outcome.

Sarcasm aside, I was realistic in my expectations so knew the chances of riding were low - but it is slightly disappointing that we won't even get the chance to try. Then again, at least I won't have to spend all day glued to my phone trying to find a VQ slot either, so there's that.

We're currently due to attend previews on the 15th and 16th, so I'm half tempted to try to move our tickets from the 16th to the 17th, but it really isn't very convenient as I'm not sure what we'd do at Helios all day on the 16th without preview tickets, and we're meant to be checking out of Helios the morning of the 17th and heading over to Royal Pacific - and if Battle at the Ministry is still as unreliable after a week's downtime then moving the date could be for nothing.

Do the hotels still have a separate allocation of tickets for previews, even if the AP and GP tickets have sold out? If so, we could wait to see how its running when it reopens on Saturday and then buy additional preview tickets at Royal Pacific for either Sunday or Monday if things are looking good...

That, or we gamble on trying to ride it on the 22nd or the 26th, which seems unlikely if crowds are going to be much higher. Difficult decision.

People are hyper-focused on the "now" and are ignoring the fact that previews have largely gone very well with the exception of Ministry (which we already knew about).

I get that we're all fans here, but it feels like some people genuinely want this to fail, and want to be able to say "ha! i knew it!"

I may be in the minority when I say there has to be some responsibility on our, the consumer, end. It's explicitly stated this is a technical rehearsal, a preview and attractions may be up and down or not available at all. As an adult, I have to make the conscious choice if I wanna rish 150.00 and nothing is up or if I want to risk it and all is working. Do I personally feel tickets should be cheaper, selfishly yes lol. But then we may be complaining sbout not being able to snag a ticket.

I went during team member previews and I didn't do everything UT I was happy. I'm going back Monday and if things are down I'm gonna be alright. I'm taking a 10 year old who's probably gonna spend his time running around SNW with that wrist thing playing games. The rest of the park is a bonus for him. But again, this is my situation and how I can justify the price and the risk of things not working.

But I do wanna ride MoM lol .

Yeah, you won't catch me defending a billion dollar corporation very often but its pretty clearly stated that the park is in technical rehearsals and is not officially open yet. Don't understand people making such a big deal about some of these things knowing full well they are still tweaking things.

Like going to a rehearsal for a play or something and complaining that not everybody was in costume.

Universal heard everyone's complaints about cost and this morning decided to raise hotel rates from yesterday lol, or at least reduce the AP and SMSM discounts at a few hotels!

It's been fluctuating constantly. Seemingly more than usual. I don't remember seeing such ups and downs in past years of checking.

I found good flights so was about to change my dates at SF yesterday, got busy and didn't finish the change, today it increased over $40/night for mostly the same dates. Looks like they just took away the SMSM rate which was discounted more than AP rate for a week or longer stay.

Nobody wants this to fail. The park was just in miserable shape yesterday and those of us that paid to be there had horrible times. Like my first time in Epic was the worst theme park experience in my life, and I went to the pile of garbage Six Flags America that is about to be put down. I know that it’s not a long term indicator of the park’s long term success, but the experience was terrible. I know you have to be ready for disappointment in previews, but that was a whole new level. There was a point where you could count the functioning rides in the park with one hand and still have multiple fingers left over. We have the right to be upset with Universal and complain about our experience.

I believe he’s referring to people from the outside, looking in. You were there, you have every right to share your frustration (and hopefully, you made a visit to Guest Services, as this helps them train, too!).

I honestly wanted to, but the lines were so long for GS that we just decided it wasn’t worth it. We were done with lines after the third time we had to abandon a queue. I’m sure that Universal is very aware of those problems at least and I hope this park never has a day even remotely comparable to what we went through again.

FWIW You can call in to guest services after the fact. It's worth giving another datapoint for them, if only because it may mean they won't shut down half the park to film commercials while guests are there.

Looks like Epic is having another rough go at it again today. Monsters Unchained, Curse of the Werewolf, Mine Cart Madness, Stardust Racers, Fyre Drill are all closed/delayed right now, plus Battle of the Ministry closed.

Hiccups is at 130min, Mario Kart 120min, and even the carousel up to 35min wait.

FWIW Minecraft Madness and Monsters are back up already. Werewolf was announced to be closed for the day. However I don’t think I’ve seen stardust open at all yesterday or today which is slightly concerning, wonder what is going on there? I know they were only running 2 trains on each side a few days ago.

Not sure how accurate but

www.threads.com

The Theme Team (@the_theme_team_) on Threads

Guests who attended Epic Universe previews yesterday are being offered new tickets by calling guest services(407) 224-4233. Universal clearly states previews are technical rehearsals, so this gesture is above and beyond.
