Suppose this puts their recent prioritization of 8 train ops at Stardust in perspective

EDIT: unless that will still be ticket-gated

Does SNW get the same crowds in Japan that Epic usually sees in the states?

I’ve seen so many videos of this land and every time I see it it’s crowded beyond disbelief. That ride seems to be constantly stretched beyond its capacity.

It’s worse. A lot worse. In Epic you could actually move around through the area. In Japan it was shoulder to shoulder and absolute misery to even be in the land, much less actually experience anything there.

The entry to the queue has the same ground connections as the portals.

Everyone: the queues for rides are too long but at least the food is great

Universal: let’s open up the hub so paying guests have to wait forever for food too

I'd imagine admission will be restricted, doubt it can handle massive crowds with the relatively smaller parking lot (compared to like free options like CityWalk and Disney Springs) and only two table service restaurants.

Likely an Epic After 5PM pass that allows access to all the restaurants and Celestial Park? Maybe APs are allowed in for free (with upgrade for attractions or purchase a "land pass"?)

Opening it up for a free for all might not be the best solution?

Dinner is a different story, a lot of the quick services are closing earlier in the day and both table service restaurants have lots of availability.

Before the park opened, I was firmly in the camp that didn't want general access to the Celestial land without a park ticket for evenings, or any time. But after seeing how the overall park operates, especially with its very extreme capacity/operations issues, and a capacity solution many years away, I've changed my mind. Celestial is very much being underutilized. The present restaurants, and the unopened planned ones, will not be able to achieve their optimum operations until this area accommodates more traffic. Money (profit) is being left on the table. Profit that can be used to 'complete' Epic with the three new D/E ticket high capacity attractions it sorely needs. Celestial is beautiful, and has a lot to offer with its fountains and gardens and restaurants. At this point in time it's rarely crowded.

So, it behooves Universal to open this area, at some time of the day or night, to the general public and/or AP's. I'm on record as saying I wouldn't visit Epic much until the park is complete, which it is far from . But, 'If' Universal opened Celestial to guests after 5:00 PM (as an example), I'd actually bus over there from the North Campus often to enjoy the beauty, ambiance and restaurants of Celestial. Presently Celestial is not what it was expected to be crowd wise. May as well let it prosper while the rest of Epic grows out, which will take at least four/five/six years worth of expansions.

Epic's guests often leave early, so that opens up parking spots, plus almost all of the North Campus on site hotel guests use the complimentary busses, not their cars.

Starting out with an upgrade for afternoon/evening AP access would make more sense to me than anything else. Then maybe consider an open hub if they still aren’t meeting their targets for dining and such. Having to scan into each portal creates visual intrusions and could be cumbersome - even a short line to scan into a portal would be a downgrade compared to how seamless it is now. Creates crowding at the entrance, and I don’t love seeing the scanners in general.

Celestial Park has fantastic vibes (particularly at night) and some great restaurants - could totally see it being a successful hangout spot for APs if Universal lets it be, similar to Epcot.

I’m all for this. Maybe you only get access with a dining reservation, or if you’re a hotel guest.

No way they can support all of the dining options in the park if they don’t do this. Blue Dragon & Atlantic always look empty.

At bare minimum, Helios guests should have access to Celestial Park

As a local I wouldn't mind paying $79+ for a prix-fixe dinner and then "free" entry to the rest of the park and select lands. (SeaWorld has a similar promotion with Sharks Underwater Grill).

I think opening Celestial to anyone with an AP first to see what that does makes more sense than just opening it completely.

How would the open park model even work with fireworks? The fountain viewing area is pretty small and fills up some nights with just the normal fountain show, cant imagine now adding non admission to the mix and a more popular show.

I agree with this, especially since you can advertise it as a perk (and also for hotel guests perk).

So many possibilities. Free hub. AP hub. Hub with dining reservations. All mentioned.

Or it could be for companies that can rent out a portal for an evening in September similar to what they do in Diagon and elsewhere.

It could also be used to validate hotel guests for early entry vs the current card nonsense that isn’t verified. Disney verifies, universal you can just flash a key which is beyond silly.

Celestial Park in general feels like a dead mall even on a busy day. I was initially apprehensive to this when it was rumored but the land was clearly designed to be this way and I think it could liven things up!

The response to this is baffling. The restaurants are extremely quiet. Not many people are paying for parking in order to walk around Celestial Park. Even if it were completely free it would be some passholders, team members and resort guests.

Celestial Park has never felt even remotely crowded. And you aren't going to add 5k of random people who just want to walk around and eat.

Sure maybe the first week with passholders might be busy for people to get a look around but that's it. The area can easily accommodate whatever would happen.

The average tourist isn't going to care less if my wife and I enjoy a meal at Blue Dragon when they were too busy getting their money worth on attractions anyway.

It could make fireworks a bit quirky. I'll grant you that. But who is to say they would offer it all the time or do nightly fireworks.

I think it's less the idea of having more guests in Celestial Park and more the inconvenience of having to wait to scan your face to enter portals.

That makes a bit more sense but it's really not that bad. I guess I would have to see it in practice in this location but whenever I have done express I have found it pretty much fine.

It certainly depends on how it is managed - if it turned into a “Disney Springs nightly drone show” madhouse… I’d be pretty unhappy as a full priced day guest.

Not at all comparable. Parking fees would stop that. Disney Springs is much more of a destination on its own than Celestial Park is also. Besides, the parking lot would eventually just reach capacity far before the sort of numbers that happened for that drone show.
