When and why does Universal close the parks early? Even during the slowest periods the parks were closing at 7 or 8 with anything earlier being due to HHN, park buy outs, or grad events.

I get what you're saying but I don't want people to walk away from this thinking EU will be open from 9am-6pm.

Yes. And during the past 2 to 3 years they've been gradually extending closing hours, even during the non holiday and prime seasons. That's been the trend.

A staff member on Coasterforce (@Lofty, who everyone seems to trust, so he's probably an insider) said this on the Epic Universe thread:

"It is true that Fantastic Beasts won't be a land and that it's actually a third iteration of the Wizarding World... from what I understand that area will hold THE main attraction of the park, one which Potter fans have been "asking for since the beginning", which I feel could be the flying Ford Anglia. There are mutterings that it could utilise an old Universal ride technology from yesteryear but modernised creating a really thrilling ride"

I think that he is interpreting the "asking for since the beginning" part wrong, cause it absolutely sounds like the British Ministry of Magic, but interesting nonetheless.

Another user actually said something earlier, and Lofty was probably replying to it.

This is what that user said:

"Third piece of Epic Universe news for today!
Rumours are emerging to suggest that in March Universal Creative decided to replace the land meant to be the French Ministry of Magic from the Fantastic Beasts films with the British Ministry of Magic from the Potter films. This would mean that this area would now become the third section of The Wizarding World Of Harry Potter at Universal Orlando rather than a new IP (Fantastic Beasts) In my opinion this is a good move by Universal as Harry Potter is a much more successful brand than Fantastic Beasts and it would not take much effort to convert the French Ministry of Magic plans to British Ministry of Magic plans. No word yet however on the fate of the 2 attractions that were meant to be housed in this area.
I must stress that these are simply rumours at this point and could quite simply be whispers developing from the fact that apparently the delay was, in part, due to "a change of plan" "

Interesting rumor, a better choice in general IMHO, but something I cannot corroborate at all. Thanks for the insight.

The "old Universal ride technology from yesteryear but modernised" part sounds like those MIB-like shooting dark ride rumors from a while back. I really can't see it being anything else.

Kongfrontation’s ride system (updated for more that up-down) could be a killer Anglia attraction.

EDIT -

Ah geesh... of course. Have Mr. Weasely, from his position in the Ministry, invite muggles to test his new flying Anglia, “Since Ron lost the last one.”

I was about to say that I can't see the Anglia showing up here until I saw the edit. That's actually brilliant.

Well there already is a London area at USF so that would be redundant, right.
I expect it to be more Wizarding World than Fantastic Beasts but I don't expect any Potter or Potter time period characters to be involved.

Was gonna say, i’m happy with what they do either way but two london’s feels very weird, epecially if they keep the aspect of an outdoor area themed to the nonmagical part of the city.

Especially since we know Mark Williams is willing to revisit the character for new attractions.

Nah, it would be fine. London is a big city. There can easily be two different parts of it in two different parks if you're looking at it immersion-wise.

Heads up. The county has reached out to me and asked that I take down the recent permit image, saying it is exempt from public requests and should not have been issued.

Please do not share the image on the internet, and especially not here on the forum. I have removed it where I posted it as best as I can remember. Thanks.

Just to put this to bed, Universal doesn't refer to it as "London", it's Diagon Alley. This would be The Wizarding World of Harry Potter - The Ministry of Magic, or something similar. For 99% of guests, it's "British" and Harry Potter is synonymous with the UK. We're really overthinking this issue.

In terms of the british ministry, from my shaky niche potterhead memory, there’s a restaurant in the ministry or right by it called the Siren’s Tail that the ministry aurors always go to eat at, so it could become a dining location

Well, it does depend on what your definition of a full day is. If you're only here for the rides, you might end up being disappointed (not in the quality, but the quantity). For example, Hollywood Studios is a half day park, Six Flags Magic Mountain is a full day park.

But, if you're here for the full package, this absolutely is the park. There's so much to do here, you got 12 rides (if that dome in the hub is a flat ride like I think it is), three built in shows, a parade, fireworks, and a ton of interactive experiences and play areas. Not to mention that two of the rides (AKA Mario Kart and the Fantastic Beasts shoot-em-up) are interactive, leading to tons of re-ridability. You can just relax and take in the atmosphere if you want. There's stuff to do in the rain. There's stuff to do if you don't want to ride anything. It's perfect in a way that no park in Florida outside of Magic Kingdom is.

Animal Kingdom provides a TON of variety. Might not be the most in terms of quantity but it's easily the best WDW park IMO. MK as a whole has not been fun in quite a while to me.

I may be getting too hyped, but i really think this park is going to be what I thought Universal would be when I went there. I was expecting everything to be like Wizarding World so I was pretty disappointed with a lot of the park, but I loved the theming in Wizarding World and Jurrasic Park area. (I think I would've loved Seuss land too but didn't have kids yet so felt too creepy hanging out there at the time, but that was the land I was most excited to explore with my toddler this year in our now cancelled trip ) Don't get me wrong I still enjoyed the parks, but my expectations of immersiveness had been a bit too high. I think epic might meet those expectations though.

Seuss Landing is vastly underrated. I find it to be the second best area in the park.

It is believed that it was Universal's execution of Seuss that led to JK's confidence in giving them the Wizarding World.
