So if anyone has been following my obsessive posts over the last month of breaking down aerial shots trying to obtain clues that the rear portion of the volcano was yet to be installed you will probably have agreed with me up until a couple weeks ago all signs were there that there was still potential for that to happen. However the last couple weeks have been diapointing, firstly the large concrete footers with bolts that were all lined up and at what appeared to be the correct angle for steel to create that large rock work projecting into the sky that is currently missing were removed from the base of the volcano. That for a start is rather substantial as I'm sure they were for the rear portion as they were cast right at the very beginning a year ago and to remove them means something significant has changed.
Now looking at the latest view below the highlighted section in my mind almost confirms that we are not getting what was shown in the promo videos and lets be honest those videos have been incredibly accurate considering they are using them for tv adds they have to be. What we should be seeing in the highlighted area is the rock work wrap around the top of the coaster exit out of the mountain and then on the right a large spiked piece of rock project towards the sky breaking up the empty looking open back of the volcano. What we are seeing below is suggesting otherwise, for example the rounded painted edge of the volcano on the left of the coaster suggests no more rock to be added, however we have seen them already add to this area so can't rule it out. The rather significant development though is the rock on the right that looks like it is ending just at the height of the coaster, basically this replaces that large piece that would have been bolted to the floor, although it looks clear it has nearly reached a finishing height just above the right hand side of the coaster supports and create a cave like entrance to the volcano from the river rapids.
As much as I am feeling disappointed its not the end of the world its just visual. I have a feeling the rock remaining really would have helped make the back of the volcano not look so exposed but we can still hope. As for the peice that was spotted at the stage area I think this maybe installed on the right hand side as they still have the concrete supports in position on the ground. I can't visualise how it fits yet but its my only guess right now.
