I recall many forum discussions from the first two years that were expecting an expansion in year two or three.....Boy, were they wrong. :D

They filed permits and cleared the land for installation of new slides tower. I have to presume the fallout with ProSlide following grand opening may have had something to do with their cold feet on expansion? But just my guess. They could have just crunched the numbers and realized it wasn’t needed yet so back burnered it (forever lol).

Welp, they can fit an Aventura-sized hotel there surprisingly enough (with parking garage). That, or a Disney-style Polynesian Bungalow over the water complex.

It stinks because water park expansions feel like a substantially cheaper investment than something on the level of Hagrid's or Kong, but there just isn't really a hype market for the newest waterslide model like there is for coasters or dark rides. So parks just end up stagnating usually, with attendance being about the same regardless. What a shame.

It appears that Vol is back, but now with pre-recorded audio. This is a fair compromise, and better than the character being gone altogether.

This is what I suggested should happen, and I'm glad they took the time to get it done. Looks good.

Really happy they’ve returned this element to the park. I’m more than okay losing the interactivity if it means we get to keep the great atmosphere Vol brings to the caves.

A single tweet but this is worrisome. Tapu Tapu ending October 1, then closing the park from Halloween to April. Hoping the latter is just an awkward way of describing the current schedule, but have my doubts.

ETA: hearing may be related to expansion -- but even then, this one-two punch is not a good look. Only other water park to close for the Winter in Orlando is H2O Live.

Will it be a seasonal thing? Even on some slower days, the capacity for the water coaster isn't that great and it's VB's most popular?

Tapu Tapu was great since it spread out crowds to less popular attractions. Hoping they can that VB capacity boost soon.

I will say that outside of its closure for COVID, Volcano Bay hasn’t had a proper closure for maintenance. It’s all been regular upkeep or attraction closures.

One of the big cabana benefits (IMO) is getting your own Tapu Tapu screen. I wonder if they'll replace it with anything, or it'll just be a lost benefit?

This is true, they sent a UOTM email announcing this an hour ago.

A November to April seasonal
Closure means that Volcano Bay will now be open for just 7 months a year?

If true, this timing seems really odd, as Epic Universe's opening has finally solidified Universal Orlando Resort as a true week-long destination.

I can understand it shutting down for yearly maintenance in January and maybe first half of Feb, but a full 5 months? I don’t like it one bit!

Now that it’s going to be a seasonal water park can we finally be done with this nonsense spin universal marketing did to make VB sound like a third park?

This won’t happen, but I think they’d be better off making a kids park here like they’re doing in Frisco. Could make the 4 park offer seem significantly more legit.

Could just be a really long, must needed refurb and/or expansion......if not, it's obviously a cost cutting measure. We'll know more of its true nature when the 2027-2028 winter schedule is announced .

Two possible outcomes (No more Tapu Tapu): Cost cutting like eliminating 3D glasses on Kong and DMMM......and more hopefully....Universal getting away from all Virtual lines, that are difficult for tourists to navigate, and just more favorable to locals that know all the ins and outs of Tapu and VQ park lines.....VQ is not GP tourist friendly.
