VFX has gotten to the point where they aren't going to need many physical sound stages anymore. We have a lot of insane developments in realtime CG happening fast.

We are prob going to see almost all of universal Hollywood transferred to park space eventually over the physical sets.

I'm going to make a post about it, but I am actually thinking it's going to happen..sooner than we realize.

I wouldn't jump to conclusions so fast. Backlot sets may be falling out of favor when shooting on location (or with CGI) is more popular, but the lots won't be wiped out entirely. Television is the main source of production, these days, and they require ample sets & soundstage space.

I wonder how much of it will be left if they do proceed. I'm glad I got out there and saw it while it was up and running.

Found this color coded event map from WB's 2018 Horror Made Here event in my email (my phone was yelling at me about storage space ...also Gmail). Figured I'd share it.

I had to dig up the map/sign they had on display at the event as well

If anyone wants, I've got quite a few pics I can post from the event itself.. quality won't be as great, but oh well.

I was there! It was so much fun. We all still talk about Nightmare on Camp Crystal Lake to this day. Incredible.

Which is why I made sure to flash my employee badge during one of my breaks to zip through express lol

Still wish I could've scared as the Conjuring demon (i believe wall scare) since that is what i had specifically auditioned for, but Universal had changed our (house staff) scheduling, so it prevented me from working other nights at HMH

It was worth it. I've never run out of a house like that before but Conjuring's ending had us all RUNNING out of there. :lmao:

WB has a new event this year that's a horror centric studio tour at night, panels, a festival with food and games, and then a movie screening. Kinda sounds like they're testing the waters to bring back Horror Made Here.

I visited the studio store recently (they have a lot of horror displays and merch; go see for yourself--I posted about it on my social media), and I asked them about Horror Made Here. They admitted it was well liked, but said there's a lot of reasons why it hasn't come back. She didn't get into details, but it sort of hinted it probably wasn't coming back. I'm guessing it was too big of a disruption to both filming and their usual studio tours.

There some parts of Horror Made Here I really liked, the Freddy Vs Jason tram being the highlight. The rest of the event was just okay. It was fine, but I actually hope it doesn’t come back by virtue it would interfere with the possibility of HHN doing some of their IPs.

I think another thing to take into account is that there is only so much parking there. They don’t have the infrastructure available for an HHN event even if they wanted to. Obviously it wouldn’t be as big, but still that’s something else to keep in mind.

I also feel like WB makes better buck licensing their IPs than keeping it confined to just Horror Made Here as far as the CA market goes

I think it was really cool and bold that they gave it a try, but yeah, the economics never really made sense to me.

What is so interesting about this to me is the impact it made on the guest. I have friends that went and now live out of state and every year they ask me if this thing is coming back. People I know who missed out on it ask about it as if it was some kind of legend.
