This could maybe be a switch in things. Make it difficult for outside vendors to work and then up charge their own strollers. More expensive but far easier plus that Disney magic. $$$

Does Disney provide their own strollers?

They don’t have any other than daily rentals so nothing really comparable. The Disney strollers can’t be used outside of the parks. Not to mention they’re priced to the point where it’s cheaper to buy a stroller and just throw it away when you leave. This actually happens very often, in fact almost every bell stand at the Disney hotels has a collection of abandoned strollers.

that would be my guess....especially considering their m.o. the past few years.....but the good thing is that I would think there will be less 'unnecessary' ECV's... and strollers with 8 year old kids in them... crowding the pathways.

This doesn’t make it more inconvenient from the guest perspective. They still simply show up at their hotel and their stroller is there waiting for them. Also that article mentioned one of the companies opened a location at the airport, that seems to make it even easier and you can use it in the airport. That would also be extremely helpful for anyone going straight to the park and checking into the room later in the evening.

If anything I would say Disney is continuing to push the business to other companies and now giving up what little revenue they did get from this.

I'm wondering if this is also a cash grab. If people don't have the convenience anymore, how many will end up having to rent from Disney. Between that and the groceries delivered by Amazon, I'm sure Disney has seen its revenues decline on rentals and sales.

This seems like the likely play here.

and hopefully less ECV's ( the people who don't really need them/it's evident it's their first time in one since they don't know how to drive them), might speed up the loading and departure of buses..... Look at photos of WDW in the 70's , 80's and early 90's....just a smattering of 'regular' sized strollers in the parks, not the logjam of strollers and ECV's that's there now. Perhaps there will be less drop offs by companies that don't want the added expense of paying employees to wait for a guest...or at the least, with added employee costs, they'll have to raise their prices to a level that some guests won't pay....Glad Universal doesn't have a plague of those in their parks.

This shouldn’t really have any effect at all on the amount of strollers and scooters. When they introduced the preferred vendor program, those companies that opted out had no real issues at all getting the strollers and scooters to their customers. In fact it actually made for better customer service since they met face to face. If there were any issues they could address them right then rather than having to come back out.
