Is it actually worth the 60 bucks??
If you loved the first one, you'll love this one, too. Portal was sort of a test, just something extra thrown in with The Orange Box. Portal 2 is a full fledged game definitely worth the $60. Albeit, the replay value is going to be lower than, say, Call of Duty or Halo, but that's pretty much expected with most any game without competitive online multiplayer. I've already finished the single player campaign, but that was through getting it at midnight and staying up far too late -- followed by playing it all day the next day I-know-I-have-no-life-but-that's-okay-I-have-my-companion-cube
. The time it takes to complete the single player campaign will vary quite a bit, depending on one's, ah,
wit (and whether or not one is determined to suck it up and
not look up the answers after 5 minutes of failure lol). With that being said, it's roughly twice as long as the first game. It felt longer to me, but that might be due to the fact that I had just completed a speedy play-through of the first game the day before. I've only touched the surface of the cooperative campaign, but it's already proving to be an insanely, and equally amusing, mind boggling adventure filled with just as much of GLaDOS's dark, sarcastic humor we have come to know and love.
I'd rather not spoil the campaign, but I can assure you the story and dialogue are some of the best in video game history. Plus, this man's voice is in it:
