Globus Mundi closing isn't a surprise for me - of all the times we've gone into the store, I've seen other people in there maybe a handful of times.

Seems like people just genuinely didn't know it was there lol

Same here. Plus the merch available wasn't much that was unique to the location.

Globus Mundi as a travel agency, was a concept that seemed to make sense as WB/JKR were kicking off the new Fantastic Beasts film series.

As each of those films were meant to showcase a new Ministry from each of the different Wizarding locales around the world, Globus Mundi would have been the designated spot to purchase items tying into to each of the new places.

While the first two films did stick with the concept, with MACUSA and French Ministry, they abandoned the concept (and then the entire series) after. And the other Wizarding cities didn’t really resonate with audiences in a way that mattered to consumers looking to flock to stores to buy merch anyway.

Lina Mina did some incredible travel posters that were on display in Globus Mundi, showcasing all the different Potterverse locales that might have been featured in future films, but that’s about as far as they got with the lore.

Of course, we still have (/are stuck with) Wizarding France at Epic Universe.

Yes, stores exist to sell merchandise, bottom line.

The wand shop location would make for a great snack/drink kiosk. Walk up bar/display case, order on one end and pick up on the other. My biggest complaint every time we go into Diagon is the line for a Wizzards Brew or Ice Cream is too long. A couple taps for beers and butter beers, single serve ice cream portions, make it efficent and you've got a home run.
