I think the video is real. I am referring to NOPE as in, no way in hell I would ride that.

It's real. I saw the show they did on the Travel Channel that covered everything about the slide from the smaller replica they made for testing (which crashed several times), the construction and the testing of the actual slide.

They had to redesign and rebuild the hump, right?

The today show has featured this ride a couple of times. I think it looks completely stupid. Dumb dumb dumb. I can think of a whole bunch more imaginative things they could do with 150 feet of height.

Damn ... if they had to completely redesign, then I'd say that the original engineering must have been pretty lousy.

The ride does intrigue me though, would love to go on it ...

This slide was at the Kansas City park. They have several parks, and almost built one in Ft. Lauderdale. Their flagship park is in New Braunfels, TX. (And really is pretty amazing)

Thanks, I should have checked that. Still the right thread for the demolition.

The Kansas City Park has never come close to the awesomeness of New Branfels. They had big plans and got Recessioned. I remember the early plans with a resort connected by a lazy river a retailtainment area complete with a Scheels sporting goods with a ferris wheel and so on. The area it is in. Is where Great Wold is at along with Sporting KC soccer stadium, a minor league baseball stadium, the nascar track, a big ol outlet mall that had a TRex cafe and Dave and Busters and a casino that overlooled the 1st and 2nd turns of the race track. The area hasn't really ever got it mojo back like other similar type of developments, it's just there.

Schlitterbahn waterslide death: Charges tossed in Caleb Schwab's death

Judge dismisses charges in 10-year-old boy’s decapitation on Kansas waterslide

KANSAS CITY, Kan. – A judge dismissed criminal charges Friday against a Kansas water park owner and the designer of a 17-story slide on which a 10-year-old boy was decapitated in 2016.

Wyandotte County Judge Robert Burns cited improper evidence in dropping second-degree murder charges against Schlitterbahn owner Jeff Henry, designer John Schooley, and general contractor Henry and Sons Construction Co. The judge also dismissed an involuntary manslaughter charge against operations manager Tyler Miles, The Kansas City Star reported .

They were charged after Caleb Schwab died while riding the waterslide, which was marketed as the world’s tallest slide.

“The court has grave doubts as to whether the irregularities and improprieties improperly influenced the grand jury and ultimately bolstered its decision to indict these defendants,” Judge Robert Burns said. “Quite simply, these defendants were not afforded the due process protections and fundamental fairness Kansas law requires.”...
