That original "Nahtazu" marketing campaign just gets more and more ridiculous by the day. The show with a residence in AK's weenie will soon have "Zoo" in the name, twice. :lmao:

So like ... December 2025 or January/February 2025? I assume the latter, because they'd give us a date if it was sooner.

Apparently December 2025.

"Winter 2025" should mean this coming Jan/Feb, though. Evidently not to Disney!

7-8 months of downtime, yikes. I know ITTBAB is not the busiest attraction, but leaving Dinosaur open for all of 2025 makes more sense now because otherwise there’d be just what, five rides? Everest, Kali, Safari, FoP and Navi… not good.

According to Moth on WDWMagic, his sources state the interior of the Tree of Life will be gutted and extensively redone for Zootopia. This is backed up by the permit listing: “Facility Demo, General Construction, Electrical, and Area Development." The contractor listed goes by the name of Whiting-Turner Contracting Co.

I’m guessing that building is overdue for an infrastructure overhaul - in fact, as I type this, I’m guessing this is why they elected to ditch Bug in the first place. Most of the components probably hit their expected service life (typically 20-30 years, depending), with this park opening in 1998. Not worth the money to do all that work for an attraction that people like well enough but don’t love.

As parks grow and age to this point within our lifetime, this sort of thing becomes clearer the more you see it.

I personally LOVE the queue/line/walking trail or path for ITTBAB, as well as the interiors of that big, beautiful tree. I shall miss them.

I mean.. that's kind of the only thing that WILL remain. :lmao: So we still get to enjoy that.

I did visit DAK this week just to pay my respects to ITTBAB. Fantastic show and will miss the trauma it provided for kids and some of the adults in attendance.

It was decent, but it's time to move on. The show was getting that old feel.

I'm so glad the show will be no more. This attraction (in DCA) genuinely traumatized me as a kid and is the reason I have severe arachnophobia (it's a legitimate issue). The ride also ruined dark rides or indoor dark attractions for me for a while (so it basically ruined theme parks for me). And something tells me I'm not alone, so I'm all for no more genuine trauma for other unsuspecting kids, lol.

That was different because parents should've known better for dragging their kids into that.

To be fair, I would also trust an attraction at Disney World, specifically Magic Kingdom of all parks, to not traumatize my child beyond a reasonable point. It was an issue with how much it conflicted with the larger Disney branding, which is traditionally very family-friendly, light-hearted, and usually with an air of adventure or whimsy. None of which would describe Alien Encounter at Magic Kingdom haha.

It maybe would've done a little better somewhere like DHS or Animal Kingdom (besides the sci-fi theming ofc), which generally lean edgier, older, and darker in tone with their attractions. Hence TTBaB, which fits better next to Kali, Everest, Dinosaur, poacher-plot Kilimanjaro, etc than it ever would in Adventureland next to Tiki Room, Magic Carpets, and Jungle Cruise. It's a scarier show, and imo it needs an older skewing park to help self-select an audience that could appreciate that.

Yeah thats fair about Alien Encounter, but ITTBAB felt sort of tone deaf in its own right due to the IP they chose (I know the show came out before the film). The show also has a false sense of security, as the it does the rug pull at the last act. I don't think you can compare that to Dinosaur or Everest, but I sort of see what youre saying with park selection.

My perception is also a bit different because ITTBAB at DCA was eventually apart of a bug's land, which was overtly aimed at children.

But this is and will always be Disney's problem when it comes to adding anything-- people just figure "It's Disney-- how scary can it be if it's for kids", or worse yet "It's Disney-- all those safety warnings on that roller coaster are just to make it seem scary. Come on and ride Gramps, don't worry about your heart condition, it's a kids ride". Meanwhile kids get psychologically scarred, and old people die because "it's a Disney ride, how bad could it be".

They are forever doomed to build "family friendly".
