This is gonna be such a monstrosity next to the original Polynesian buildings. I'm someone who actually likes BLT next to the Contemporary, but this just seems like it's almost gonna be so bad that I feel like they should just tear down the other Poly DVC buildings on the other side of the resorts and build another tower, simply for the sake of symmetry at that point.

Looks gorgeous as expected. It's going to be like the Four Seasons next to Aulani. :lmao:

A water feature in the lobby would take this over the top. Am I wrong for thinking the blue hue wall here might be one?

Reading DisneyWar, a major part of the book revolves around Eisner trying to capitalize on the hotel business around the Walt Disney World resort. Notably, he didn't just want to build hotels, but ones with incredibly unique and boundary pushing design and architecture that defined the field. He understood that Disney had the opportunity to build unique and themed structures more than any other hotel chain out there. He even went as far as to consult and hire huge names in the field of architecture at the time to design many of the major Eisner-era expansions. He didn't want the hotels to look like any other hotel on the street.

Clearly, this art has been long lost. How hideous and how boring.

They found out their fan base would pay insane amounts of money for hotels that cost less to build. Not to mention the whole DVC cash cow.

To be fair, nothing Universal has built since Cabana Bay has really had much of a theme. Unless you count Sapphire Falls as themed, which I don’t.

I’m not saying this is worth the price they’re offering…. Maybe I’m basic, but they look nice! It’s not spectacular but I think the modern look on design being less appealing is a larger, broader discussion on the field in general than this resort.

I’m fine with the rooms. My issue is exterior. Not just that it looks like a fairly generic tower hotel, but how much it clashes with the OG Poly next door.
