Has anyone ever successfully upgraded from 2 single night tickets to 1 multi-night ticket?

Obviously this year is clearly different, but I'm curious to see if that could be done. With ROF not increasing at ALL, it would be about.. $15 to upgrade lol
Yes. My brother and I did this exact thing yesterday. I called guest services and was forwarded to a "ticket specialist". They apply the money spent on the two single day tickets towards the ROF and you pay the difference which was $14.92 in my case. However, if you bought Express passes at the same time as your two single day tickets under the same confirmation number, they will have to cancel the Express passes and add them again at the current price. For example my brother had to pay $57 to cover the ROF + increase in cost of 2 single day express passes at the current price. We were told its the way their system works and there is nothing they can do to let you keep your express passes at the original price you paid.

Do you do that with music/movies/books that you like as well?

Makes sense to me, and I do that with most movies and books as well, yes. There's plenty to experience out there without having to keep repeating the same things over and over again. As someone who flies from NY for HHN, I can only do one night, and I absolutely love it! I would imagine that there must be diminishing returns after knowing where all the scares are, so I also don't need to walk through a house 30 times.

I thought last year things didn't stop selling until the season actually began? If that is the case, I don't think that would cause the sell out now. I think Universal is trying to solve an issue. They clearly raised the express passes up way more than the non-express and they limited them all. There is an issue they are trying to solve not cause panic buying. We all complain about certain aspects, but now they are trying to solve some of those things and we also complain.
I agree that they probably limited express to solve a problem. But they absolutely are also causing panic buying. It will definitely happen if they go back on sale this year and will happen next year unless they go back on sale for a long time and universal makes a statement.
IzzyB said:
I agree, I think one night ticket holders probably complain a lot and don't return. Maybe they are seeing a trend on their end where multi-night was increasing, single night not at all, and this is ausing F&B to be less. Maybe the October is because of multi-night being down. By lowering the number of people with express you would decrease the stand-by wait giving those single ticket holders a better run allowing them to sell more of them which they are the ones probably spending the most money in that single night.
I always feel bad for single night people. I love the event and always get multi night now so I do a house a bunch. But a single night person may only do it once and miss a lot. There has been times when I didn’t see something in a house fill my 3+ run. So that single nighter will have a bad experience.
IzzyB said:
Agreed. I think a better release of tickets to everyone at once instead of it showing up on the website and people finding it and also in that release saying quantities of Express passes will be limited. That s honestly the only thing I could see they do differently, because honestly what they did was a little brilliant in my eyes. It gets less people who are going thru these houses too many times clogging up the lines for everyone else.
I don’t know how I feel about what they did. I have conflicting thoughts on it.
IzzyB said:
But one ticket didn't even go up. It was the top tier that no one without money wasn't already buying. If you are on a budget you are not buying express anyways.
The top tier pass absolutely went up in price. Unless you mean the one without express, which I didn’t look at.
IzzyB said:
Everyone has complained about this line up, yet all the HHN super fans still purchased causing the sell out. So clearly IP doesn't matter.
That’s funny to me. It really shows ppl don’t care what the line up is and ppl complain just to complain.

Shame because not only did Legends Collide have such a simple but fun and effective trailer, but Bride of Frankenstein Lives (which this year's UM is rumored to be a pseudo-sequel to) is one of the best house trailers they've ever done.

Although we aren't getting a trailer for Bride 2, I expect they'll do a deep dive at some point. With Epic Universe and the Dark Universe portal right around the corner, you take advantage of that sweet, sweet synergy.

I am saying the lower pass didn't go up in price, it was top tier. So your argument of pricing people out of the event who can't afford it doesn't work, since lowest level RoF stayed the same. If you were already buying the top tier you have money is my point. So that price going up doesn't price people out of the whole event.

I normally go 1 to 2 nights and have never had a bad night. We will see how this year goes as it has been awhile since I have gone since I have kids. I am taking my teenager for the first time, she did HoS last year. We are just using our Premier benefit and don't have a desire to pay for more since she will only want one night. Already have to have my mom watch my younger kids overnight as it is so my husband and I can go with her. But I do hear a lot of negatives and people who don't go back because of how crowded it is. I imagine there is a point at which Universal needs to address that and probably what they are doing now.

Well I missed out on getting the FFP+Express pass too because we were trying to figure out what makes sense for us this year. Just went to check FFP in general and its showing sold out the same way too now, but Ultimate isn't. There's no way that's right is it?

Lucky for you. I have seen the opposite happen unfortunately. Especially in the recent years, with the event getting as crowded as it is.

I have to say this is really crazy. I cannot believe they sold out these big passes already. Thank you to @Drummanmatt for casually messaging me yesterday morning stating the passes were up. I immediately went on and got ours. As another person who travels for the event, it's the FFP+ w/ express we get because we come down over 4 different weekends. I am fortunate my family has owned a vacation condo in Kissimmee for years which makes it much easier to travel that much. However, it's the pass that makes it worth it. If I had to buy individual tickets with individual express every night we wanted to go, it would severely reduce how often we could attend. I can tell you, that would be a loss of $$ for Universal because we are one of "those people" as mentioned earlier, who buy damn near all the merch - and we buy extra for friends and family who are big horror fans but can't make the event. I don't even want to know how much money I've spent at HHN since 2005. I'm very excited about HHN (as I am every year), and I am truly heartbroken for my fellow rabid fans who are having issues getting their tickets now. If I had to wager, I'd bet those passes will become available again. I don't see how it's physically possible to sell out tickets for an event that runs over 2+ months with a capacity of.. what is it - 25k per night? No way. There is something else at play here. Patience, people.

The issue is the "overcrowding" of express, reducing capacity for standby. Universal is taking an initiative to reduce (or limit) frequent pass users in express lines. You can still purchase unlimited access to the event itself. I'd argue you don't really need express if your going more than 3 nights.

Definitely up to each individual's strategy, but I prefer to show up either early or late in the event to knock out houses and then relax/watch zones/watch HNF during the "heat" of crowds.

I can recall in the early days of my visits I would buy express and only use it like once or twice a night, and that was for lines 20 mins long lol. Times have change and we are a "gimme more and faster" type of society but I only get express or VIP/RIP when I go to hollywood now since I am only there for one night and it generally a fri/sat. I often wonder why a pass that includes every night also needs express. You can come every night and go in one house and still see them 4 to 5 times over the course of the event.

Sounds like someone in Universal watched Defunctland's "Shapeland" video. (Which is a good thing. Wish Disney would.)

The huge number of Universal TMs and APs about to be diagnosed with IBS on August 29 suggest you are in the minority with this opinion. I admit it changes how you visit the event, but if you have the option, why choose to see houses under suboptimal conditions or with a sweaty hour-long wait?
