Do you think we'll ever see Nathaniel Crow come to fruition?

I'd love for it to happen the same way I'd love to see Blind Fate and a new attempt at Eddie and Cindy, but will it
Sesame Street Idk GIF

I'm honestly surprised we got Dr.Oddfellow when we did

Probably not, since the Pumpkin Lord was a fairly similar concept.

I just want them to bring back Cindy as an icon. So much potential there. I'll even take Eddie lol. I know a lot of people want him back as an icon

I'm not sure Cindy would ever be possible as the icon with what happened when she was supposed to be out back then. but Eddie yes.

With Mike Aiello back in the fold, I HOPE there's no icon this year. Bring back a meaningful one at HHN 35. Pumpkin Lord and Sinister/Surreal were nothing more than MCs (Masters of Ceremonies) regardless of what Marketing wants to call them. I think I saw S/S up on top of the HHN sign once in the 5 nights I went last year...if they were ever in their respective zones, I didn't see them (or at least didn't take note). Their merchandise looking like crap didn't help. Pumpkin Lord was cool since it was an established character with an amazing house previously, but didn't do much for the event but cause a bottleneck for people wanting to take pictures.

Oddfellow at least had a house and was present throughout all the zones (granted you might have needed a secret decoder ring to find him in some of them), but some of the other "icons" were nothing but canned performances welcoming you in through the front gates. Go big or go home. Make a real, fully fleshed out Icon with a house and zone and tied into marketing...or don't bother.

Might as well make that entry area the de-facto Blumhouse Zone and open up San Fran for something else.

I think you misunderstood me. When he's in charge, they've have REAL and MEANINGFUL Icons on anniversary years (the 0s and 5s). So I hope they don't do another half@$$ed one for 34 and take their time developing a good one for 35.

I've liked the icons the past few years though. Sinister/Surreal and Pumpkin Lord weren't great but they were very fun characters. They might not have been implemented the best into the event but still. I enjoyed them a lot. I rather have characters like them as Icons then no icon at all.

I think my biggest hope for this year is that the event will have a clear and unified theme, regardless of whether it has an event icon or not. Despite having no icon, the 80's synthwave theme for HHN29 looks like it was very well executed from the videos I've seen of it.

i just miss when icons where kind of regular people ( Oddfellow fits that) Eddie, most of them. ( lady luck kinda)
but monster icons, FEAR, sinister/ surreal, they are kind of cheesy and people kept saying they look like power rangers villains lol.
but I just preferred more human icons. even if they are ghosts like bloody Mary.

Sinister and Surreal showcased that half-baked Icons really don't add to the event, and in some cases can bring the event down.

Dr. Oddfellow on the other hand, easily one of the strongest Icons we've had in a long time. He had a presence throughout the entire park as all the zones revolved around him in some fashion, outside of those you'd hear his whistling in the park music loops, and he had a very good house in a year that had killer line-up. With how they handled him, he brought that Je ne sais quoi that not every year gets.

For me, Icons are not required for the event, but in the case they do bring one, I would very much prefer they take their time in creating and incorporating said Icon into the event a la' Oddfellow. And if that means skipping a year or two for an Icon, then so be it.

Oddfellow the ringleader, I guess that it's just much better when the icons have a job lol :nervous: it adds to their character. makes them more developed. (usher, caretaker, director, storyteller, doctor, ringleader)
Chance didn't get have a job and look at how that turned out

I wouldn't call this guy an insider tbh. I don't think he has a reliable track record. He got one rumor (Fallout) but that's it. I just think he got lucky with that one

The Oddfellow performers were also excellent. Really a well-executed icon all around.

Fully agreed, they clearly had a blast playing him and it showed. What one of them told me my final night there really summed him up.

"Admiration will carry you far...Fear will carry you further."

Pretty fitting for a sinister and charismatic cult leader.

the actors in the house were also really wonderful. i think you guys were talking about the performers in the zone, but the house actors also did really great. they were a lot of fun and they were great in every visit. very memorable.

and even the Oddfellow version in the jungle temple zone was really good.
his mini show was really cool, and the actor played it really well. very memorable.

Oddfellow might be the best used icon of all time, with appeared in 2 zones and the house, all connected, having the great show in one zones d the great mini show on the other.
