IDK if they'd ever do this (but they have unmasking, so who knows?) but I'd pay an upcharge to watch a special Horror Make-Up where they just demo a house look or two for that year. Doesn't have to be an IP character, but would be so cool to see how they put a look together, what techniques they use to make sure it stays, all that.

Would be pretty simple and a cool thing to highlight TMs who bring the event to life

I think you're onto something, Lucky. Bring back the party atmosphere, when people happily spent hours in Finns or a foam zone or just doing Jello shots in the streets. Lots of booze and lots of open areas to congregate and drink it. HHN has come to be all about WDW-style "commando" touring.

Y'alls got me feeling like i'mma have to go through the event like:

I think this would be cool - or just a general "HHN version" of Horror Makeup. Like someone else mentioned, include an IP or two from that year's event.

A show that offers a quick look behind the curtain as far as how the event is brought to life?
Featuring an IP to come out and scare the audience before breaking it down and showing how they made it work for the event?
I am SOOOOOO sold.
That is something i'd sit and watch EVERY year if they cycled through a different IP every year.

So many ideas...

Horror Makeup Theater
  • Blumhouse Presents: The Art of Horror - Featuring M3GAN (horror makeup, but adult)
  • Legendary Truth (investigation/mystery themed experience)
  • Tales from the Crypt (some sort of horror story with live actors)
  • Ghoulish - A Halloween Tale, featuring Gremlins (horror play of sorts telling stories)

Bourne Stuntacular Theater
  • The Carnage Returns (or any theme)- rehash of previous Jack show, new tricks that don't utilize existing stunts from Bourne. Just uses the physical stage and screens for backdrop. Props are rolled out for the show on wheels. Nothing permanent is utilized.

Going to HHN in your early twenties with a group of friends during the Jello shots era was a VIBE

I don't think it can be replicated in modern times. Not because of prudishness or anything - it's just a different, much more crowded event. The 10 years ago I remember is a different from the decade prior to it as well.

People often voice concerns about the event becoming more "kid friendly" every year but even just 10 years ago people smoked in lines and alcohol was way less restricted. The change in alcohol isn't just social engineering by Universal. People, specifically young people, drink way less now.

the PURGE stunt show. even use the same stunts as Bourne, but with purge characters
even use the same prompts, just change the background video.

if universal closes rip ride, and Epic eats IoA attendance, it would make sense to close IoA at 6pm and open just hogwarts express and hogsmead for hhn

While I’m sure this is not a clue to anything, a post like this is why the Wyatt Sicks wrestling rumors don’t surprise me one bit.

HHN was definitely more of a 21+ party vibe for quite awhile. I remember they would pass out shots while you waited in line. People got wrecked. I also don’t remember as many teens or kids back in those days. It was mostly a 20-30s age bracket

Ya know, that’s a good thought if they could just section off the hogsmeade area only. That train ride over and back would eat a lot of the crowd. The old rumors say that Harry Potter IP didn’t want to be included with HHN though. They just recently only added the Death Eaters. Would be a lot more staff involved in that too.

Hmmmm. It seems SS24B is almost ready for scenic. Is this normal for an HHN house to be at this point in March? I feel like it isn't.

(Credit to W33gee from the HHN365 discord server for pointing this out)

Glory days of Halloween Horror Nights. My buddy and I started going in 2006 and our best memories come from pre 2018. The event or the attendees have not felt the same since the introduction of Strangers Things. We never drink throughout the year but we do let loose at HHN, and it always led to meeting new people. Those were the stories we always went home with and still talk about today, not the houses or the scare zones but the interactions with complete strangers over a drink. Nowadays you spark a conversation with somebody and they look at you like your nuts.

HHN Orlando over the years. Hasn't really changed much in 10 years.

*Entertainment offerings included in graph only include stage & lagoon shows, no street shows/parades included (rat lady, etc.) to make graph fair to view as recent years lack that sort of offering.

The stranger things argument is the same as the walking dead argument. I think it’s really not about IPs coming in and hanging around but more just changing demographics.

One could argue the change in demographics were due to the arrival of Stranger Things. Lol

The Walking Dead made HHN more popular with the horror audience by bringing in folks who weren't locals and convinced people to stay at their resorts.

Stranger Things made HHN the "place to be" during the Halloween season, specifically younger demographics who only care about being there.
