Okay... but i want Alien Encounter level of scary so I can be in tears. Although opening day waittimes will fill that void. *shudders*

I think (hope) Creature will fill that void.

Another huge positive about the animatronics in here, of course they all look great, but movement-wise not only are they fast and smooth, but they're LIFE-LIKE.

What do I mean by that? This isn't Elsa, Kylo Ren or Imhotep with very exaggerated and unnatural arm movement, these character (especially Victoria and Monster in the pre-show) movements actually make sense and naturally go along with what they're saying and/or doing.

I was extremely impressed with the finger articulation on some of the animatronics. It's a very small thing but it adds a lot.

I’ve always had an issue with how Disney’s animatronics that are meant to be show-stopping demonstrations of their tech do the same exact thing every time. All the SWGE characters, the Navi Shaman, the Tiana figures… they just stand there and make gigantic, sweeping arm movements while they speak.

They’re impressive and I guess I get that they’re trying to show off the fluidity of the movement, but it looks really unnatural and almost uncanny. Nobody actually does that with their arms.

This is something I’ve always noticed and love about the finale Indominus on Jurassic World. The individual talons move. It’s amazing

Part of me does wonder if there was a creative change made for the ride itself, as the queue and preshow are noticeably less lighthearted and genuinely frightful, while the ride takes on a more adventurous and (at times) almost cartoony feel with some scares mixed in.

From what I've seen of the preshow (like seriously, it never gets old watching a video of it), i like the sinister vibes of Victoria Frankenstein, like she has a few screws loose & multiple personalities trapped within her genius brain.

Then there's Ygor who could very easily switch loyalties to Dracula at any moment

Victoria's voice actress absolutely killed it with all her line deliveries, and with everything you learn from characters around the land and especially the visual storytelling in the queue, it creates an image of a fantastic, morally grey/corrupt and complex character that I think everyone will have a slightly different interpretation of.

And poor Ygor is a sad story of a victim-turned-monster, as you Victoria physically and verbally abuses him, which he grows to 'like', yet also taking out that bottled anger out on the monsters in experiments, and in the preshow alluding to wanting to intentionally hurt us.

You guys never would have survived the Revenge of the Mummy press campaign. Month after month of "psychological thrill ride" and teasing that everyone wouldn't make it off the thing alive.

The totality of Monsters Unchained seems right in line with The Twilight Zone Tower of Terror, which is a perfectly acceptable level of scary, IMO.

The mummy was to jump on the ride vehicle! They wouldn't shut up.

Would've loved to be a fly on the wall guiding all that PR... For a time, the idea was that Imhotep *would* sort of jump onto the ride vehicle via a Kuka arm, right?... And then the story goes that they realized the tech just wasn't reliably there yet.

With what all we've heard about it, part of me wonders if Uni might try to realize that vision with Creature.

I guess? I mean it was the mid 2000s and they clearly didn't have the sensor, robotic, and computer tech to do this. The amount of stoppage and sensors just for this one effect is something else.

The original concept for Creature was to do a fake release of the restraints as you were looking down into the water.

For Unchained?! That would've been absolutely terrifying in the best way, but also it's very easy to tell why that was cut lol, forbid something were to go wrong with that effect.

FWIW, I think Gillboy has a robot arm attached to him, so I'm wondering if he might lunge out of his pit a bit more soon. With what I've heard from people riding, it seems the animatronics have been slowly but surely getting closer to the RVs, so I'm very excited to see just how much more intense this ride will (hopefully!) be by grand opening.

I mean there would be an ACTUAL restraint lock but also a fake one that would just open it enough to get a jolt and scare you. That's a good horror attraction, right? Making the mundane and safe become unpredictable and dangerous.

There is actually still a moment in the ride that fills this void a bit.

After Dracula escapes, the way your RV swerves almost straight to the floor then suddenly stops for a split moment, every single ride without fail has given the sensation of something genuinely going wrong, like Drac has truly broken the safety and now leaves you at his mercy. Great moment and feel (now they just need to actually hide the draped curtains you're looking at for that entire part!).

I read that as "add more monster ass" :nervous: People seem to be loving Ygor, Victoria and Drac so I'm sure that would make many happy

Just now realizing the most ingenious part of the ride system, the KUKA arm being directly below the bench doesn't just allow for you to be turned and thrown around much quicker, but with how this new system works, it allows the RV to be lifted higher, lower, closer and further when needed.

To be fair... the original 1990 version of JAWS "bit the boat" after the boathouse.

And original "KONGfrontation" had him "lift & throw" the tram car.

Imagine both former rides with today's tech :eyes: Just like Van Helsing would've been a nightmare for downtime back in 2004, so Monsters Unchained shows us their dream big vision.

They KILLED Her backstory!! what really blew my mind was the hints that she is not a descendant of Frankenstein and she is just a Nutcase that bullied her way in lol. Also the bride said it as well at the meet and greet!
