After watching Jurassic Park recently and listening to the soundtrack for the millionth time (you just can't beat a John Williams soundtrack!), I've arrived at the one thing that I think IOA needs a little more of: more from the soundtrack for the JP area music than the ~2 minute cut they currently use. Lengthen it up to approximately 10 minutes worth (Welcome to Jurassic Park alone is an almost 8 minute track) across the whole area and have a few different "sections" for the music through the land. Use the hauntingly beautiful horn and main theme introduction around the two gates, have the lighter piano and strings variation playing out behind the Discovery Center (or just play Welcome to Jurassic Park in its entirety, I'd be more than fine with that :D ), etc.

:iagree: I was going for more of a scarier JAWS basically, without the cheesiness. Maybe have a goal to get to the sick dinosaur from the first movie? And you could always have the 'something goes terribly wrong' aspect… Who knows I'm just throwing stuff out there

Your idea sounds amazing Elizabeth  i would go on that ride ALOT. Although I'm not sure if it would be like the 397 times I've been on FJ..lol Yes I keep count..i like that attraction somewhat.

Think this has been mentioned before but I love the idea of a ride based on the early scene when they arrive at Jurassic Park and are taken on a tour of the lab to see the baby dinos been born and where they do the reveille about dino-dna spliced with frog dna.

The first part of the ride is true to the film and ride vehicle with the explanation VT about collecting amber and how the dinos are then engineered. Then we move into the lab on the vehicles just in time to see baby dino raptors hatch, again as per the film (not sure if they were raptors but for the ride it works). Suddenly there’s a warning alarm the lights go out people scream and we here the mummy raptor is in the building looking for her babies. At this point the ride becomes a scarier (if possible) version of Alien Encounter with 3D sound total pitch black darkness, raptors breathing on the back of your neck. Mix in loud bangs, foul smells to represent the present of nasty dinos and lots of close encounters. Then after a few minuets it goes quite the lights go back up and we see the lab we were looking at as been total trashed and the baby raptors gone. The vehicles then move with a voice over telling us not to worry has “no expense has been spared” and this is just a temporary set back.

It can't be THAT bad..I live on International Drive in the heart of the tourist corridor. :bonk: so i always have wednesdays and thursdays off. It'stoo hard getting anything done here during the weekends. I always hear the people at FJ whispering when I'm getting on my bench "that guy likes this ride" lol it's a nice break from the humidity and the people working there are friendly...and I am a geek lol

The following posts regarding a potential attraction addition to Seuss Landing were made in the HP 2.0 thread, so here they are in quotes so that they can be in the appropriate thread.

I have heard many times that they are shooting for a June 2015 opening. Around the 5th anniversary of the original WWOHP.

Suess to get another attraction before Jurassic Park can get something?

Yes, I am hearing that the Mt. Crumpet coaster is out and we will be getting a Lorax attraction instead.

It would seem to me when Potter opens it will be in the summer. So either summer 2014 or 2015. More likely 2015. They wouldn't do it over winter holiday season...they want to catch summer crowds as that's when they'll likely catch the biggest crowds/buzz from it. Basically what they did with WWoHP in IOA.

Whoa, wasn't expecting a Suess addition before Potter. That's a solid plan of additions there though. Is there any indication on when they will start work for Suess?

If it's still coming before Potter, I'd assume it would have to be soon-ish. Like by the new year.

That makes sense. Hope it is true and is coming. IoA could really use another family ride.

The new movie wasn't even that good, IMHO. And since I've heard that a Grinch movie as well as CITH movie in the same style of animation are in the pipeline, I can't fathom that execs are simply greenlighting this if there only justifiable reason is income from the Lorax movie.

I don't know how the Lorax is any less perfect than Grinch. They're both classic Seuss stories. And as much as Mt. Crumpit would be cool, Seuss and IoA need another non-restrictive ride.

It's the 3rd highest selling DVD of the year behind the Hunger Games and Twilight.

The Lorax was successful, but that doesn't make up the fact that he still a lesser known Seuss character than the Grinch, who is arguably the SECOND most popular after the Cat.

But the whole point is moot. It's still a classic Seuss character going into Seuss Landing. Who cares which one it is?

I realized that there was that thread as well as a Mt. Crumpit thread. Since this discussion started more general and then debating the merits of the two properties, I decided to just post in this thread that serves as a "any general addition to IOA thread".

Lorax is hot right now. Universal is enjoying its newfound success in animation. This has already given us Minion Mayhem, so a Lorax attraction is no surprise.

This does not prevent a Grinch attraction from coming in the future. The money isn't going to stop rolling in. The same money giving us Transformers at a lightning pace could eventually get us a Mount Crumpet or JP Amber Mine.

I'm only favoring Grinch over Lorax because there is only one expansion pad in Seuss. I highly doubt both attractions could ever be built back there together.

One could argue that the Grinch is the most popular character from Suess.

I bet Universal to some extent wants to keep Grinchmas special, though. If you had a year-round Grinch attraction in the form of Mt. Crumpet... well, there'd be a lot less incentive to visit during the holidays, live action-prosthetics version of the Grinch notwithstanding.

I hope this Lorax ride will be a dark ride like Cat; Islands really needs more family rides, and both parks could use more animatronics.

...also, how the hell are they gonna pull off a Lorax sequel...?

My sentiments exactly. Plot additions to the first movie were pushing it for purists, but to make up a completely non-Seuss story for the sake of milking it? Despicable......

Well judging by the first movie, I'm sure we can expect it to be terrible.

That's really the only reason I'm not interested in a Lorax ride. The movie was way off base.

Totally agree about a true family style darkride. Universal needs more of theses in general, but I still want Crumpit

I greatly enjoyed the Lorax. Wasn't an Oscar winner, but it was highly entertaining.

And the sequel isn't in production. There was talk of it after the movie came out, but hasn't been any since then.

Besides, I doubt the ride will be based off the film. The land is clearly based in the literature.

Not to mention, both Cars movies are terrible, and they made one hell of a LAND out of them.

Doesn't have to be an omnimover. Could be trackless like Antarctica, could be a boat ride, etc.

And even then, nothing wrong with an omni.

Now that Jaws is gone, any boat attraction would be appreciated. If the Lorax is indeed happening, making it a boat-based dark ride about nature would only help in the design as Uni could theme it to a stream in the woods that passes by truffula trees, etc.

Meh. I guess it was a horrible film, I was just greatly disappointed by it.

Well if the ride isn't based off the film, I don't think you have to ride the hot hand and use that argument for using Lorax over Grinch. Now the idea of keeping it special, that one holds a lot more water. I don't know how much that will matter once all the other expansions are open, but I'm sure driving in extra traffic is something they always keep in mind.

I'd love to see how they'd pull off the truffula trees and the rest of the woods' atmosphere.
