LOTR for IoA. Star Trek for USF.

Basically would make each park unstoppable powerhouses.

I completely agree with this. These are both solid franchises with huge followings. And though I'm not big on Sci-Fi, I think Star Trek would work very well next to MiB. It'll be like the Sci-Fi corner

How many different Princess IPs does Disney have in their parks?

Besides the tents for HHN, what is that land used for? If they got rid of the tents, they'd need something else for HHN. They already lost Jaws queue and SS44.

Maybe make the houses at the old Hard Rock location?

Right, but they are all condensed into one land (Fantasyland).

Voyage of the Little Mermaid, Beauty and the Beast Live on Stage, and the Magic Carpets of Aladdin (A Whole New World is pretty much the influence for it) aren't in Fantasyland.

Primarily in Fantasyland, but certainly not limited to Fantasyland.

One-off attractions are an exception. Even so, you are naming 2 shows that take place in DHS. They are not in the same park as the other princesses.

And no, the Magic Carpets do not count, nor was influenced by that scene. Carpet was around during the whole movie, and not one ounce of Jasmine is used in the attraction.

Primarily in Fantasyland, but certainly not limited to Fantasyland.

Understood. I know that some extend their ways into other parts of the park for Meet & Greets.

I'm a fan of the franchise, but I rather not see it come to the theme parks. I'd prefer something else, whatever that may be. I just feel that it falls within the same realm of Potter personally. You'd have Goblins & Elves at both areas that look totally different from each other; Giant Spiders (Shelob and Aragog); and the argument could be made that Gandalf/Dumbledore and Dementors/Nazgul are similar.

100% agree that there would be too much off the genre. Almost half the park would be the same type of area. Its too much of the same and there are many other IPs that could be used that provide variety. Even if I set aside my boredom when watching any of the movies, I still couldn't see it making that much of a IP to go in the parks, it doesn't fit, maybe if they removed Potter, but that's not going to happen for a long time.

I'm glad I'm not the only one who feels it would be too similar. I think they need to also be careful to not fall into Disney's trap of misunderstanding success. It's not about going out and getting the biggest name you can. Yes, people came to WWOHP because it's Potter. But they stayed because it's one of the best themed areas in the world, with appealing attractions and environments for everyone. And almost most importantly, it was vastly different from anything anyone has seen before in Orlando. I don't think the next step should be such a similar franchise. Take the detail from Potter, and put in it a new direction like Sci-Fi, Westerns, or even an actually good version of something like Toon Lagoon.

Well, the current gameplan for both companies is make something pretty and merch the ever-loving stuffing out of it. That works.

That's all well and good, but like all other gameplans it'll fail eventually. Why not try something different to stay ahead of the curve instead of just riding it into the ground? It's smart to diversify their investments.

It's fair to say that Universal is interested in the property, not just for obvious reasons, but they have asked about it in almost every survey I've ever taken.

The fact is that the majority of people enjoy these installations because of the property itself. With the example of Potter, the attention gathered by seven books and eight films far outshines anything Universal could have created for WWOHP. Potter fans don't care nearly as much about riding FJ as they do about walking inside Hogwarts. They want the (go-go gadget Disney vocabulary) "diversions" that they've dreamed about experiencing for years. Designers just have to do the property justice, and the people will come in droves.

With that said, LOTR is one of the few properties that could have a similar effect; Star Trek is another. Star Wars belongs to Disney, HP to Universal. Those are the big four.

Not sure where all the dismissing of Toon Lagoon is coming from. Last I checked it was a nicely themed land that has two of the best water rides around.

I'm with you on this one. Other than the bare theming on the interior of Dudley and an empty amphitheater (both easily fixed) I don't see any flaws with the land.

I think that they have similar elements, but I don't relate the two to another in any way except that they're both huge fantasy properties. If the proposed land had elements that looked similar enough to draw a comparison, that would be one thing, but I doubt the shopping portion will look anything like Hogsmeade, or the landscaping, and the attractions would have a completely different tone (in theory). The only danger I see is a possible similarity between dining places if any sort of tavern were brought into the LOTR section which is likely. But a couple of restaurants that we can say are so similar don't make the two franchises alike enough to count them out for being either in the same park or in lands next to each other. Don't get me wrong, I'm not really an advocate for it being in IOA at all. I think I'd pee my pants if they opened a third gate. But just because they're similar doesn't rule out either putting them next to each other or even bringing it into the parks at all. It wouldn't be my ideal property, but it could make tons of money. Just my opinions though.

I agree that it would make the parks pretty fantasy heavy. That is why i threw out the "third gate" concept. The "third gate" wouldn't have any potter in it, so LotR could be the fantasy element for that park. But we all know that as of now they don't even have the land for a "Third Gate". So there you go.
