That is because the stone used in the walls came from a quarry just outside of Hogsmeade. The Steles were brought up on wagons from a quarry near Stonehenge.

There are three on top of a hill in the movies, and down the hill was Hagrid's hut.

There once was one stone. More recently there were two. There are still two. There were never three.

I'm on the same boat. That's why this monolith business perplexes me. There's these other obvious details that are definitely shortcomings of an otherwise incredible themed land, and they've been there for long, sticking out, and nothing was done about it. Yet, here is this monolith that is getting facelift after facelift, like a Real Housewife of Orange County, FL... Pretty perplexing. Especially when Hogwarts is THE focal point and main photo subject in the area... not this stage phallus :look:

Well hopefully when Universal does a Jurassic Park expansion that they can try to cover the show building. It just ruins the north enterance of JP.

Yeah...not a fan of the rock work just sort of "sitting" there on the wood.

To me the first incarnation looked the most natural of the three... Eh, too late now. It looked more interesting with the runes as well, and I don't like how angular this one is.

Here is a pic of the stones used in the movies, I took the photo on a recent trip to the WB studio tour.

Just got home from there and let me say that this area needs a spruce up. The snow needs to be cleaned or painted, so does the castle. Also, the mountain as these white streaks that look horrible, they are all over. They were never there before.

Once inside, it was actually warm/hot in the rooms and the air seemed has if there was no ventilation.

(let me also say that in these parks, uni and islands, it seems like all the employees are so slow. They take forever to move, so much patience)

I think those white streaks are supposed to be Owl poop.

In the owl post yes.
Not on the mountain. I think its because of the calcium in the water. But it looks ugly. The mountain wasn't like that before.

Let me also that the highest point also has something similar. I couldn't take pictures. I saw it from the Jurassic side.

Really? That's disappointing. Did you get any pictures of these areas? Hopefully Universal does a better job maintaining this area than it's past attractions/areas...

I like to experience the area to the fullest so i didn't take any pics. But it looks bad. I don't think they've cleaned the exterior since its opened. Anyone that goes to islands, take some pics !!!!

I understand completely, I'm the same way about trips like that, I'm usually like 'Probably should have taken a picture of that' lol... And you're probably right, which is one of the big things that will make or break the long-term success of the lad, if they don't maintain it properly it's gonna end the same way the last ten years of the parks went.

Yeah, the snow has been discussed for over a year but the calcium has not so much. The snow isn't actually dirty, it is black mold, which is common in Florida. As the snow and shingles are custom made, I am not sure they feel comfortable using the standard chemical to kill and bleach the mold, otherwise they would do night treatments using one of the many companies in CF.
