But the screens are attached to the cars, aren't they? So perhaps this could still be something projection related?

By car do you mean the "domes" because the projectors certainly aren't attached to the kuka arm ride vehicles.

I'm perhaps a bit confused. For some reason, I'd always thought the domes and projection system are essentially attached to the passenger car (with the domes sliding into place when needed).

Nope. They never touch.

The domes and affixed projectors continuously rotate around a fixed point at a constant speed during normal operations. Each car arrives at the same speed as the dome rotates, and the arm basically pokes each bench into the dome and holds it in place, moving along the track at the same speed the dome rotates. At the end of the sequence the Kuka pulls the bench out of the dome and the empty dome then completes its rotation as it collects the next car.

Very much a modern day version of the original Journey into Imagination turntable arrangement.

Freaking awesome display of technology. Absolute brilliance and seamless execution on Creative's part. Bravo!

Thanks for the explanation, Martin.

Ok, so now I am paranoid. Why do I have a red circle next to my name but everyone else has a gray or green. Am I slated for demolition? :stunned:

The red circle signifies that you have "invisible" mode turned on. Only you can see it as red when you are logged on. The rest of us still see it as blank.

Thanks to everyone who supplied information on those domes. I often wondered how it worked, I had deduced already that there were multiple domes, but was lost as to how it would work.

Last September, I was also lucky enough to be given the "VIP" treatment, as we were taking out of the line and led to the stationary loading area. What made it all the more surreal (especially for my 9 year old daughter) is that as we wait for the first elevator, the doors of it went open and out come the cast members of Durmstrang and Beaubaxton ... truly magical ...
