Could be third if they don't add it before Kong opens.

I'd rather see them implement express pass at FJ before they do 3D. I'm just not happy about this at all...

I didn't realize how bad it was until a recent trip. A friend of mine gets motion sickness on simulators with screens and gets headaches on 3D attractions. It was hard to find stuff to do.

I'd actually be all good with FJ being in 3D. The screens on this have always been my absolute least favorite part so the 3D could only help.

Perhaps the darker environment could hide a lot more with the implementation of 3-D glasses...I always spot catwalks whenever I ride

Yeah it could give them an opportunity to use lighting to better highlight and frame the stuff you are supposed to see while the stuff you aren't supposed to see disappears into the darkness.

If they bring back all the old effects, then yes lets do it. Otherwise I'm mad about the 3D

I have some concern with:
1. Water on the glasses from the two spots that the spiders spit
2. The steam from the dragon
3. And messing up my photo op with the the picture and soul sucking effect.

Great points. There are so many other ways to plus the attraction that, to me, 3D seems like a waste.

Water and fog have little impact on the other 3D rides, I doubt it'll be different here. If anything, glasses falling is the biggest concern.

I wear regular glasses on rides, and riding FJ with them has never been a real problem. However, I do cover them for the spider scene so they don't get wet. The angle of spraying could possibly be changed.

Does anyone else think that the Willow could be given an update with this? Lighting fix, full cover screen with relief model of Hogwarts in the background, a Quidditch tower on the right for a more visual transition (as opposed to two strobes and that cloud animation).

Maybe some music. Finally. Ahem.

I just have the worse luck with them. When I forget to cover my glasses on spidy, transformers, and gringotts, I'm always the lucky one to end up with the big glop of water on my glasses and have to try to wiipe them off. Smh. I'm going to optimistic though. I just enjoyed this being a screen without the accessories. Just got to have faith with universal and jk. They can't touch a thing without her picky approval. If she plays it, then it must be at least decent.

And other ride vehicles!

The screen sections are my least favorite parts of FJ, since the overall RV movement is kind of gimped compared to the physical sections which whip you up and down and all around. I'm cautiously optimistic that 3D will improve the dome sequences to make them a bit more comparable with the rest of the ride (again, imo).

When you pair motion with screens, too much movement without proper visual synchronization (e.g. squenching, dimension) is jarring, and has resulted in the massive amounts of human projectile for which this ride is infamous (though I also strongly suspect Butterbeer with corn doesn't do too well). That's why the screens needed to be in 3D the first place. But, after some technical issues and budgeting shifts, the 3D was eventually put on an indefinite hold. I strongly suspect that with the old projectors, the 3D just wasn't cutting it. Perhaps 4K projectors with bright bulbs were simply out of the question back then. But if this was passed by Warner Bros. (Jo probably had little to no say), then I believe the quality will greatly improve the ride overall.

Patiently waiting for a POV...

I think what really makes the scenes in the carousels so lackluster are the lack of carpet fans (fans which blew wind under your feet). They've been turned off for a while, and they really did add so much to them.

I think FJ here in Orlando will definitely close down for some much needed refurbishments/enhancements.

After Christmas.

For 2 months.

I think that's when we'll see 3D here in Orlando, alongside the return of the carpet fans and a much improved locker room system.

Agreed about wind - it can really make or break the scene. For all its problems, I've always had wind during the freefall on Gringotts, and I've ridden it quite a few times. They really blast the wind in that scene, and it helps make it one of the best examples of simulation in a ride for me. Hope they pour it on thick with FJ sometime soon.

Overall, I think Transformers is the dark ride to beat when it comes to consistently awesome simulation (with screens). FJ's dome scenes have never really done it for me - whether it's the image quality, or the motion profile, or the lack of 3D, I don't know. They just don't match the intensity of the practical sections imo. 3D might be the missing ingredient.

Exactly, gringotts has smoke and water effects...

It looks like the room is split on the 3D.. I'm happy either way. I rode this twice last week the first time the screens were ok.. the second ride they looked amazing... i don't know what if anything changed. We had that a lot.. some rides on the same attraction are just inexplicably better than others.

I'm not bothered about the glasses for the ride photo.. does anyone buy this? I only discovered last year they even took one!!
The dementor scene may look silly with everyone with glasses on... but that particular effect hasn't worked for a while.

One would hope that (as others have mentioned) the closure for 3D conversion would come with a general refurb and fix-up of effects such as this as well. In a toss-up between 3D or the soul sucking, I would certainly prefer the effect.

3D or not, I hope FJ's on-board speakers are eventually cleaned up. They sound very high pitched and muddled to me. Not sure if this is a recent issue, but it's been bothering me a lot during my past few visits. Gringotts/TF/Spidey sound much better to me.

Edit - unrelated, but I love the new lighting on the first dementor.

I honestly never even noticed a difference in lighting and I really looked... Maybe 2 years between rides means you miss smaller tweaks.
