I will say this, and this much;

The Shining is going to be in a sense of the vocabulary, The Exorcist in how it will be reacted towards. It is one of the biggest IP's that Horror Nights will have, and is based on one thing that everyone, and I do mean Everyone has clammered for. King.

I eagerly await hearing the announcement, and I am curious to see how certain aspects are handled, like the Hedge Maze, the flood of blood, and the face-actors for Jack.

As a King fanboy, and no lover of the movie, I still want a full-on, proper King house. This will be great, but Kubrick's vision is not King's.

It will still be related to King, even if they don't market that and go more with the original Kubrick film.

It's King-adjacent, but I'm one of those people who don't consider Kubrick's Shining to be a King story.

-Texas chain saw either remake or number 2
-it
-american horror story-
-a 3d house based on jack
-another walking dead changing it to an original house

Assuming that this is real, the way it is worded makes me think future King properties at HHN are less likely, not more. I really don't know anything about how the licensing works, but I would guess that HHN could do "Stanley Kubrick's The Shining" without King's permission. But that might be a strike against them if they were to approach him regarding other rights. By going with this property first, my instinct is that they have already tried with King, struck out, and are moving on. Just my two cents.

King is working with Universal already to remake Firestarter...makes sense this is the year of King in the park

If they have this (I think it is real) then it is a breakthrough and we can expect future offerings from the King library. If that happens the future of HHN is huge. It has always been a growing event and this just expands on what they can offer.

I'll preface my comment by saying that i'm a fan of the Kubrick movie, but I haven't read the book. If The Shining is in fact happening I'm curious, but cautious. The movie works on a more psychological/thriller level. I don't see how it transfers to house besides seeing some scenes play out. There's not a lot of out right "scary" moments.

I know The Exorcist might have seemed like a similar case before last year, but the increased abstracified setting made sense. I wonder if they can do the same with Jacks descent in to insanity.

I'm interested in how the blood scene will play out. I hope with real "blood" on plexiglass or something, but I can see them taking the projection route for practicality. Maybe that will be similar to the pea soup last year and kind of put us in it!

I honestly believe that IT is not going to happen for this year.

When the sequel comes out? I see that more likely.
