Anything to do with a release date moving? I'm thinking either that, or another house using movie imagery vs TV show imagery.

I'm still so amazed this type of stuff is still happening. At least it's now instead of September.
Yea. At least this gives them some time to build a theme around the house rather than saying, "Screw it just add some spray paint and call it The Purge!"

They supposedly had a couple of backup IPs planned too. Neither would excite people. I would kinda prefer my ratio get busted.

I'm OK with a smaller replacement IP. Who knows, they might do something pretty spectacular with a lesser known IP since there would probably be less eyes on it, and less pressure.

As far as I know Insidious was always Hollywood-only this year, but admittedly my Orlando knowledge is more limited.

Would a supremely popular TV show going into its nth season be considered a smaller IP?

Realistically that shouldn't be surprising. I don't think it'll happen, but no one should be surprised they'd consider it.
And considering last year's house was finally good, maybe they could do another good one if it came to that
So TWD is a potential backup. That makes sense, and that I would assume that they could have some other Universal/Blumhouse IPs as additional backups encase of if anything goes down.
The last minute Universal Monsters House of Horrors actually turned out alright once they finished painting it a week into the event. Really pick any classic monster, recycle the costumes, you'll have a fan-favorite house.

Not a bad idea for this year. With the recent announcement of "Dark Universe", it wouldn't be a bad idea to get the classic monsters back into the collective consciousness.
Been a couple years--I think nothing tho. The original plan was a South/Central American folklore house in the building that became Transformers. When that was taken off the table, had to scramble to add capacity to the event. I want to say that was the first year they used the parade building (obviously worked well enough to become a staple). I'm sure Dr. Jimmy covers the whole thing in detail in his 2012 history videos.
