Also, I get the Forbidden Forest, but I don't recall what this "Abbey" would be.

It's most likely the abbey is some sort of ruin/abandoned structure not mentioned in the series and just added for this ride.

Perhaps the spike will be semi-enclosed? Like maybe a cage of giant thorny plants around it?

nakima-tunnel-of-thorns-1-f3eec89a-22yl.jpg

Enough to obscure the views of the spike and the view from the spike.

Reminds me strongly of the Cursed Child promotional images.

This is what I imagine the drop will be like. The roof and walls begin to tighten in on you and then the floor falls away from you.

That must have been in the back of my mind! I knew I was thinking of a thorny thicket in association with HP for some reason...

Are we as a fan community ready for a spike that isn't covered?

YESS!!
I have been thinking this since the last round of aerials from Bio came out. A steel cage like the trellis at AKL? You can peep through like tower of terror.

Orrr they will put up four corner posts and string a giant screen between them over the end of the spike then project a creature that you fall back from. Hey, giving up the screennnzzz addiction is tough - take it one step at a time.

Well if you look back at the concept art, the back was always supposed to be open

There's still A LOT of prefab rockwork coming to Fluffy's area, and that hasn't even begun.

The prefab work that goes around the spike is also meant to cross over the track for the last bit as well, blocking view of that maintenance building a little. If it was cut, something else will still need to be placed there.

Don't think it was cut though, as other prefab themed rockwork, vines, and fake trees are still not on site yet from other areas of the ride. Seems like last step stuff that can't be installed till after the pull through to me.

Sounds like a driftwood tree of some sorts wrapping around the spike.

Looks like this backwards section is maybe being filled up to the top of the footers. I never noticed the rock work extending from the show building to the retaining walls.
