What I wonder is exactly which IP did Murdy suddenly want to do that he thinks will be a long shot and a crazy idea for wanting to do?

I'm gonna present my idle speculation as fact and say A24 maze.

I've heard ramblings of our "classic" maze being a particularly unorthodox IP (it's a cult classic more so than "classic" classic) in the vein of what you'd expect from Twin Peaks (content wise). However I cannot confirm if those ramblings have gone anywhere.

Imagine a maze where it starts with no scares, and then there's one or two, and then at the end, there's five or six back-to-back.

Plus, the nice thing about shoving six scares in the back as a deliberate choice is that it makes sure everyone in the queue gets scared. Win-win!

Edit: Poltergeist was alot like that, now that I think about it. No scares, then one obvious one, then a few rooms with obvious scares (bathroom and black halls), then a room with no scares, then into the closet and backyard for a few whoppers.

This year, I think Hill House could be like that. An atmospheric Funeral Home, then a chill facade with the porch lights, then horror inside Hill House itself.

Words cannot express how much that excites me.

Just a guess: Candyman? Hausu? Eraserhead? Videodrome? The Ring?

A cult classic you say? Hmmm, heres what I can think of (Idk know if these may be possible of coming)
Evil Dead 2
Suspira
Candy-man
Black Christmas
Army of Darkness
Fright Night
Re-animator
The Fly

Again, some could be possible but idk which. Do we know any cult classics Murdy had in mind?

I'm wearing a House shirt right now, would love if Murdy would give that a shot one day.

Tell me about it. What a goldmine.

Hmm...Like Twin Peaks, and if Chris liked Jaden's post, that might mean that one of the properties is the one.

Taking that, I'm gonna guess... Suspiria?

Imma take a shot on this and say Army of Darkness because I think its owned by Universal. Highly doubt it, but since we got AvED with the cabin, why not take it back to the Mid-Evil Dead.

orlando couldn't even use army of darkness in 2009 for silver screams, so they renamed it to "mid-evil dead" and snuck a scene in. so it's not likely.

Between the two coasts, are we in line for at least one R/R-equivalent property?

Please be Suspiria dear god. But being serious Black Christmas or Evil Dead 2 just feel the most likely. I’d lean more Black Christmas since AvED was uh... not successful in the slightest. Fright Night or Re-animator would also be pretty cool.

My guess though is that it is not Fly or Army. The Fly is owned by Fox, Army of Darkness’ rights are everywhere

Edit - Black Christmas is owned by Warner Bros but it’s not an IP they’ll use anytime soon. Could it be like TrT?

Damn well thats out. Murdy did say that he wanted to do Evil Dead 2. Idk if they can get the rights to that film. They can reuse some props from AvED. If it were to come, lets hope it doesnt get abused with black walls.

EDIT: Maybe Evil Dead 2?

Yesssss, I loved that series so much. But not much of a scare, just gore. Then again, I didn't think I'd enjoy the friend request bit last year and it grossed me out.

Questions off the track: Why does Orlando announce their dates and properties so much earlier than Hollywood? I've been the HHN the last 3 years and it seemed the dates lined up with theirs. Do you think they'll coincide again?

Also, by the by, I watched Don't Knock Twice last night and couldn't help but think how that creepy lady critter (several other movies similarly) would make a fine hallway creeper.

I THINK it has to do with people booking airline tickets for the event ahead of time.

Yep. HHN Orlando is now considered a vacation/hotel room driver. Hollywood's is not - still a locals event.

Yes but it has more to do with Orlando then the actual event. All of the FL parks are considered destination resorts and they cater to the vacationers. Disney World does not get the Haunted Mansion Holiday overlay because they don't want people on vacation to miss out on the classic mansion.

I thought WDW didn't do a HWH overlay because they were too cheap to do so. Although honestly, the constant tourist market likely has an influence as well.

Nope. It’s strictly the tourist market. It’s why they also don’t do the Small World overlay and stopped the Country Bears one.
