Haha, I just lol'd so hard I choked. No. Just I posted Bowie Changes and then @Mike S posted Yes Changes which lead me down a "1984" rabbit hole. You know when your grandparents tell you about "the best times of their lives" yada yada... It's always like 40 years ago when they were young and crazy and fell in love?

Oh, and "Changes"....great song.

Honestly if they cut a whole land from this park they should just cancel it. Park was under built already, missing another land would make it a huge mistake

Uhh, how? It's really good for an opening day lineup.

Well it depends on the land. Cutting Monsters vs Mario is a 1 ride vs 3 ride deficit respectively. And there's certainly been parks that have opened with less, with lands that have no effort or entertainment put into them whatsoever.

In thinking--perhaps staggering a portion of the park..may actually be beneficial.

Universal and Comcast have been seemingly doing this with Osaka, with Despicable Me and Super Nintendo World receiving additions after it's initial launch pretty quickly (Freeze Ray Sliders for DM, and Donkey Kong is seemingly a go.) Replace Potter with more DreamWorks Animation (perhaps Panda and do a version of Gongmen City to differentiate from the Beijing version in it's design) with a clone of the Beijing E-Ticket, and delay Monsters to get people back 1 year after the park opens.

You can still use Trolls then in the future, for Kidzone or Toon Lagoon.

Under built was probably the wrong word, true. But the park already felt like “Nintendo and the Also Rans”. An old Dreamworks property (as much as I love it), Harry Potter’s crappy spinoff, and Monsters just Don’t stack up against Nintendo. Taking one of those lands completely out just makes the park feel even lesser.

I’ll believe things are cut when I hear it from more sources. The park is on maintenance mode with nearly all the UC staff laid off. Major changes, even removals, would require it to be off ice.

This.

There were some maybes and what-ifs discussed prior, but the plans were still the same before the pause, and now there’s no one there to make any changes yet. There may be changes when they pick things back up, but nothing yet.

It doesn't take a full compliment of UC for a business executive to say "Make this cheaper"

Of course not. Like I said, they've already discussed some maybes on how. Just saying new plans haven't been written up yet.

I imagine the longer the pause, probably the bigger the changes.

So far, sounded like the show attraction for Monsters might be the first to go.

Similar to F&F closing despite increased attendance on weekends, I imagine there will be some political sacrifices now but probably not a whole land.

Or “we are all going through hard times and UP&R are making hard choices too” *cuts the least popular attraction in the park*.

Poor Monsters show was already slimmed down from giant outdoor stunt show ala Waterworld to more intimate indoor theater. And the land already had its boat ride bumped to phase two. It always seems to be the Universal Monsters that get the shaft when it comes to the theme parks.

Ugh, disappointed to hear if true about the Monsters show. Likely isn't something that gets added for a bit, if ever either assuming the land itself still opens. Shows are a really nice compliment in these parks and they seem like great compliments to these lands, so definitely disappointing if true.

Although I guess if any show were to be cut it would be this. Potter has a theatre so I imagine that show is more a priority, and HTTYD is rumored for Beijing so this would be the 2nd iteration of it, seems like UC likes that show plus its very family friendly so I can't imagine they want that gone either if possible. These poor Monsters lol

HTTYD show was speculated for Beijing.

I think Toothless may be used in Beijing's promotional materials because he'll be in the nighttime fireworks show, just like he is in USF's Cinematic Celebration.

We've suggested that maybe the Chinese theater in the Hollywood section of Universal Beijing could house the HTTYD show, because it appears to be of similar shape and size inside... but there's no good evidence otherwise. Officially, I believe it's just a "multi-purpose" theater, and a lack of show announced recently in the attraction lineup may be evidence that they don't currently have any plans for a show in there. Between Waterworld, Sing, and the FX show, not sure they need another one at opening anyway.

Cutting the Classic Monsters would be cutting my prime motivation for visiting the park as soon as I possibly could. I'll likely have already seen Nintendo at Hollywood, so without the Monsters, there's not much left that gets me hyped.

Nintendo will still be my primary reason, mostly because Donkey Kong won't be at USH.

that being said, Monsters was the most intriguing land other wise, mostly because the main attraction of Dragons being a show disappoints me quite a bit.

But if the land is cut, and it was always prophesized as the first to go if need be, I really struggle with finding a reason EU should exist. Nintendo could still fit in USF, MOM could still go there as well, and Dragons would make a good replacement for Lost Continent. (Yes I know the reason is to make more money, I was speaking more creatively)
