More supports going in
The above support shows an inversion that isn't in the the plans, further more it has cone to light that the original plans have changed, Alton Towers have admitted this. Further supports have shown other inversions that were not on the original plans. I have a suspicion that this coaster may well hold the inversion record when complete, just a hunch on my part, watch this space to see if I'm right.

Supports and track
In other news John Wardley designer of the Smiler has given an interview on radio. A candid interview gives some hints as to what we will expect from The Smiler, due to open in May. It is a fascinating interview and it can be found here

Have a listen, the ride truly sounds awesome.
Sample of the interview, coutesy of TTF.
John Wardley, Ride Designer
If you think Nemesis is big this is about twice the size of Nemesis. But the unique thing about it is, whereas rollercoasters in the past have just played around with your body, this ‘marmalises’ you and it plays around with your mind and there are five mind manipulating elements that you experience on the ride"
What we have managed to do is pack more track per metre of space in this ride than any other rollercoaster in the world. it takes you up two different lifts, one is vertical, you've got 30m drop, all sorts of inversions, but on top of that various special effects that actually disorientate you so it’s a mental experience as well as a physical experience.
Maybe more clues can be found in this video too. It is a preview of the up and coming The Smiler The Game app, looks fun.

So quite a bit going on from vertical construction, finally, marketing is starting to hot up again and a great looking app soon to be launched.
I am back on park this weekend so hopefully I will get a closer look or at least view some track going up.
One last little tid bit, here is a pic without the blackout.

In front of the station is the shop, the track leaves the station and drops down and to the left and under the shop into a barrel roll and out towards the straight.
To me it doesn't look like that straight will marry up with the tack coming from under the shop. Trick track maybe?
The shop is rumoured to have a glass floor to view the train whizzing past below, does that steel work support the rumour?
So lots to discuss, what do you all think of John Wardley final master piece before he retires?
Edit. The track from under the shop does marry up, new photos prove this fact.
