They would have to invest heavily into the park's infrastructure before reopening it unless you want it to be a construction zone while in operation. Keep Blizzard open while Typhoon receives enhancements, and then shut it down.

Theoretically *if* this were to even happen, they would need to build quite a few thrill slides as Typhoon is a much tamer park than BB, which itself is way tamer than something like VB. The loss of Summit Plummet, a few of the other body slides, also Teamboat Springs would be felt. Typhoon has two raft rides, but both of them are very short, especially compared to Teamboat Springs, which is one of the longest rafting rides in the world.

Slides are cheap, especially for a company the size of Disney. A $15-20 million invest (but somehow manage to spend 4x that) for slides at typhoon lagoon is more than enough for the park. They don't have to go heavy on the thrill department since they're not known for that.

A new water park with advanced new slides shouldn't cost more than $50 million.

The cost savings for the park would also benefit them in the long run; not having to run more buses, cut down on staff, etc.

It wouldn't really cut down on buses much since DAK and Blizzard share buses as far as I remember (just like Typhoon and DS share).

On cost projections for new rides and/or a new park. remember, this is Disney, their cost will be 3X what Universal, or another chain, would pay. :oO:  Hell, they paid $30 million for a double Dumbo flat ride a decade ago.

Yep also Disney would need to apply heavy theming to the new additions which would make cost increase as well. I wouldn’t be surprised if it end up costing somewhere around $100 million dollars.

Part of me believes your being ridiculous with the $100 mil estimate, the other part of me believes Disney will figure out a way to actually have it cost that.

I don’t see this happening….how stupid would it be for Disney to close yet another waterpark when they will indeed need the capacity in the coming years…all while Universal not only eventually expands Volcano Bay, but also has future plans to possibly build a SECOND waterpark over near Epic Universe….

i love Typhoon Lagoon, but Blizzard Beach is great too…both definitely need more…and newer additions to keep up with the rest of the industry.

Lemme get this straight. They're gonna reopen the park.... just as it gets cold? What in the flawed logic is that?

Possibly to close Blizzard for it's annual refurbishment. The water parks typically operate 9 months each per year.

There's always one open and one closed for the winter months.
