This is what we get when every decision a company makes is thought about through the lens of if it will help raise the stock price instead of just doing the thing that’s gonna make the company the best it can be.

Disney stock has jumped with these announcements of reorganization (control of budgets), cost cutting layoffs, renewed theme park focus, etc. Notably, just now, investor activist Nelson
Peltz, said he's pleased with this direction and , most significantly, he's pulling back from his Proxy fight.

Imagine growing up to be an activist investor, his parents must be so disappointed

First major layoff casualty. Rebecca Campbell is being let go. She'll continue on the payroll until June. She was formerly President of Disneyland Resort and had been serving
as Chair of International Content & Operations.

Iger Fox deal/app strategy, in my opinion what is cause them to have so many money issues

When they got marvel they grew, when they got star wars they grew and when they got fox they went down both stock wise and people wise (within the first years)

I think Iger kinda has some boomer ideas and needs someone younger to push the company forward

D'Amaro just said that Park's division will see workforce deductions, but he does not expect this to affect hourly frontline roles.

All I'm saying is I think people would much rather pay for Hulu over Peacock even if they had the same content

Hulu is an OG streaming platform. It's been around since 2007 so it has been around as an online streaming service just as long as Netflix has. Hulu has far more name recognition to the average person than "Peacock". Ask random people on the street if they've even heard of it and I guarantee there's gonna be a large percentage of no votes. Peacock doesn't have a single show that has pierced the zeitgeist, the closest being The Traitors, but that's only if you like reality TV which is most Peacock content.

Hulu has 15+ years worth of originals with a few award winning ones in there. Disney has really bulked up that originals catalog from 2019 to now in the time they've been majority owners and made the service much more valuable, with the valuation of Hulu as of May 2019 being $27.5B and the minimum that Comcast's 33% is worth at $9.075B.

Obviously if Comcast wants Hulu, they're going to either have to pay Disney close to $20B minimum (and I assume valuation has increased since 2019) or they can potentially use the bit of leverage they have and try to offer back the Hulk distribution rights as a part of the deal to cut down on how much the overall deal would cost them? Or potentially Disney says they want another Marvel character to be eligible to use at WDW and Comcast says okay if we only have to pay x amount etc, etc. Of course this assuming Comcast really wants Hulu.

Or Comcast sells it, get 10 Billion dollars which they can spend on content to boost Xumo and Peacock. Peacock isn't the only Comcast streaming application.

Maybe Comcast gets Hulu, Disney licenses its content across both Disney+ and Hulu as they've publically stated they would, and Disney gets some contract concessions on certain IP to sweeten the deal.

Does anyone think "Disney" when they think Hulu?

To me this isn't a huge loss

I do now, but that’s just because I follow this stuff.

However, what you just pointed out has been Iger’s point of having Hulu to begin with. By having Hulu, it’s a non-Disney associated service that can be used for adult content while D+ stays squeaky clean. That wouldn’t be a loss however imo. Just fold it all into D+ and make it a more adult service with the Star brand. Just look at overseas….

In Ireland right now (which is where I use my VPN to watch stuff), their trending is much more in line with what you’d expect if Disney+ had adult content rather than current Disney+. This is it:

- Grey’s Anatomy
- Family Guy
- Modern Family
- The Simpsons
- Criminal Minds
- Bluey
- Wakanda Forever
- The Bad Batch
- The Walking Dead
- New Girl
- NCIS
- Bob’s Burgers
- How I Met Your Mother
- National Treasure: Edge Of History
- American Dad!
- Moana
- Encanto
- Desperate Housewives
- Bones
- Extraordinary (new British Disney+ show)
- Frozen
- Spidey & His Amazing Friends
- NCIS: Hawai’i
- Station 19
- Futurama

Ah yes, Xumo. Another streaming service they own that no one knows exists.

Disney should just leave Hulu when they can

They need like 2....maybe 3 apps at most. After that its just too much in this economy

So if they lost Hulu they would lose the Live TV aspect

I wonder if they've considered that for D+

DisneyChannel, ABC, Fox, etc all channeled through D+ would be interesting

Dancing With The Stars was live on Disney +, idk if anything else was or how that show did though.

I’m sure Disney would consider live tv.
