To justify the loss of aesthetic value that is going to come from getting rid of the Rivers of America, this attraction needs to be one of the greatest ever designed by Imagineering.

I think it’ll be great, I’m not convinced it’ll be top tier all time Disney though. This is ultimately gonna be a major win for capacity though, and that continues to feel like the driving force here.

This is just for fun, but I tried to evaluate the potential elevation difference of Radiator Springs Racers vs. this new Magic Kingdom Cars attraction based on the paper model released by Disney. From what I can tell, the elevation difference in RSR is about 12-16 feet whereas the MK Cars attraction will be 30-35 feet. So while this is about 1/3 the elevation range that the concept art suggests (using the vehicles as the "measuring stick") it will be just over twice as hilly as RSR.

I do wonder if they should do parallel racing tracks as in RSR for capacity.

There's a lot of assuming that this will be lifting from Carsland / RSR in any way. Is there any reason to believe that besides the IP choice?

Seems like a new ride system, with a much different theme, concept, and role within the park, in a plot of land that is no where near as large. It doesn't seem like it'll focus on TT / RSR-style speed sections or anything like that. It's looking to be open-air off roading.

Maybe the animatronics in the finale will be similarly built to DCA's, but otherwise I think a lot of weight is being put towards a connection between these two attractions that I'm unsure is even really there.

I haven't seen a lot of people expecting this to be very similar to Radiator Springs Racers.

If anything, even some of us who hate where it's going have commended Disney for attempting a new, original CARS attraction concept instead of just cloning.

But attempt and intent are one thing; they have to deliver an actually excellent experience for real. And it has to look great from all sides, given that guest pathways will completely encircle it. And it has to provide some new value -- atmospherically -- to make up for what the park will be losing.

In short, it has to be phenomenal... and promoting it (even at this early point) with some mocked-up dirt piles does nothing to get me enthused.

Not confirmation for sure, but the Imagineering video posted today shows them working with what appears to be a mockup of sorts of the TT/RSR ride system during the Cars segment... I guess it could be EMV track but the slot looks a little big for that:

I'm thinking it'll use the Test Track system but the modified version they did for Rocket Rods where the busbar was ABOVE the track not below.
