Nintendo is announcing their earnings tomorrow so we’ll be getting updated sales numbers. Personally I’m looking forward to seeing how many copies Metroid Prime Remastered sold since it was released first on the eShop and stayed on top there for quite a while and was selling out when it came out physically two weeks later as well. I wonder if it could reclaim the series top spot from Metroid Dread.

Although technically a remake, Kirby's Return to Dreamland Deluxe is a lot of fun with couch co-op. It plays very well in multiplayer and has quite a few mini-games included.

I'm still hoping it wont happen

Besides xbox gamers getting more games on Gamepass, not many real benefits

I own all three consoles and if Xbox wants to beat the other two, I feel they need to show they can make great AAA games over just buying more companies to not manager correctly

yeah, I'm also of the mind that this is a net negative for those who don't currently have a direct financial stake in Microsoft.

this is a decent breakdown of the particulars, for those interested.

Overwatch came out in 2016, Breath of the Wild in 2017. Both games were highly praised releases from beloved gaming companies and had sequels announced in 2019. Overwatch 2 came out late last year but the promised big new feature of a PvE mode that would truly make the sequel different from the original was going to come later. Tears of the Kingdom just released to near universal acclaim while Overwatch 2’s PvE mode was just cancelled.

I just found this kind of amusing lol.

Sorry to any Blizzard fans though, I feel for you.

Yeah

It really sucked the fun out my Tuesday, I've been waiting for 4 years for something they knew wasn't happening years ago but lied about it so the launch of the F2P version didn't get extra hate

Blizzard has gone downhill so quickly these last few years, it really sucks.

Somehow Bungie can make new Destiny Raids, story, other co op missions, near open world area's and PVP but Overwatch can't make a co op mode, its just really sad

Thoughts on the PS5 handheld? My gut says this is obviously their answer to Switch like Move was to Wii but since it’s only for streaming and requires you to already have a PS5 it’s obviously a more niche product.

It's pretty pointless

Backbone basically does the same thing as this.

They should have made a real handheld that could play older/indie games anywhere and newer games only on a network but to me this doesn't seem to be that interesting.

It needed to have localized gaming and not cloud gaming for it to be worth anything. Cloud Gaming is always going to be worse than if you have a game downloaded onto your device and you don't have to worry if internet gets spotty.

This reminds me of the famous /. post when the original iPod was announced.

I think this thing could have potential at the correct price and bundles. This really feels like another pillar of Sony's controller strategy, which is perfectly fine. Not everyone wants a handheld gaming PC.

Difference is the PS5 isn’t apple

Your grandma isn’t buying this, it’s made for idiots like me who spent too much on gaming but I have backbone so see little point in this unless it does more then play games over the internet

I would consider myself a part of the niche group that primarily likes to play games on handheld systems, and yet this device has absolutely no appeal to me. If it is any higher in price than about $200, it isn't going to stand a chance against the rise of recent portable systems like the Steam Deck.

Exactly

That’s the next system I’m eyeing or the switch 2

Now could it sell if cheap enough? Sure but doesn’t seem like Sony understands what gamers want.
The vita was amazing but Sony held it back by restricting the memory cards and not having an option to play games on the tv (they literally made the PSvita tv and the dev kits for the vita could connect to the TV as well)

I don’t understand why gaming companies can’t just listen to fans ever and have to do crap like Xbox trying to make your system always online a generation ago or Nintendo refusing to let gamers buy older games/upgrading their online to something better then literally the orgisl Xbox live (no joke the switch online is such a joke and playing games with friends online is much more complicated then it should be)

It's a controller with a screen, it doesn't need to be a new platform it's just a new accessory for the PS5.

If it’s under 200 bucks could do find

But if you own a phone, backbone is 100 bucks and does the same thing they even have a PS/Don’t branded backbone

The price will really make this device live or die.

But in a world where steam deck and switch are killing it, no clue why Sony won’t go all the way and just make portable system where I can play PS4 games and newer indie games

I’d buy that in a second

Backbone is $100, how much is the phone? Yes, I'd spend the money on a dedicated device like this to sit next to my bed or play when football is on. This isn't a new platform, that's kinda the point.
