When I was at DHS, I saw some guy who resembled a Santa Claus that was on the street at Osborne randomly posing for pictures and signing autographs for people. It was absolutely ridiculous and it may well have been this guy.

I once was asked to change by a manager at MK because my shirt was offensive. I was wearing a "I'm surrounded by idiots" shirt that I had bought earlier that day at Cast Connection. I tried explaining, that to the clueless manager who had no idea it's a line from The Lion King but he wasn't listening. My question is though is if Disney doesn't want people walking around their parks dressed as characters then why have the pirates league, bibbity bobbity boutique or even sell princess dresses in the parks? Seems kind of hypocritical to me.

Hang on doesn't Disney advertise by having guest running around their parks dressed as Disney characters.

imo, it's more they don't want people posing as these characters, taking pictures and otherwise causing any distractions whether shouldn't be. Yes, Disney has those things, but they are for kids. There's a reason the only time you're allowed to come in costume to a park is during Mickey's not so scary. The biggest reason of all is so that a character or Disney's image isn't ruined by someone who decided it would be a fun idea to cosplay at the park.

It's Disneys property so it's their rules  I saw the story and thought it was kind of funny that she got upset  I guess this girl really is from the entitlement generation. I'm all for cosplay and that's why I still go to Megacon.

Because most (if not all) of those stores and merchandise are for children. Other children are more than likely not going to mistake them for something "real". However, adults can be mistaken for cast members, and it would look pretty awful for Disney if Tinker Bell or Santa starts cursing or something worse.

Universal has the same policy, especially regarding the Potter characters. Sure, they sell the robes and stuff in the stores, but if you start to act like you are a part of the land, that's when it becomes a problem.

They shouldn't see it because that Cinderella would be breaking the rules. No smoking in entertainment costumes/wigs.

He meant a regular adult female coming into the park dressed as Cinderella (which is why Disney doesn't allow it). They don't want people portraying these characters and at the same time doing things like smoking in costume or whatever it be. Things like that would reflect bad on Disney, so there's no point in risking it.

Well, this thread was originally created bc of a girl who tried to enter the park as Tinkerbell, so it wasn't to far off the actual topic. All the Santa stuff just came into the thread later when there were reports of incidents with people posing as Santa Claus.

Sooooo this girl did something stated against park rules on the website (I understand no one reads that stuff), but when she is let known about the rules she cries and gets free stuff? Wow maybe if I jump into the Splash Mountain water and complain that I got wet they will give me free fast passes. Oh and on the Santa thing I swear I saw that guy last night at Christmas Town! As a regular guest of course.
