For some reason I thought the food was free for previews and that they basically tasted little sample sizes of various dishes.

I’m still worried about the timelines for all of this, but, they just built an entire new park relatively quickly given all factors. They can handle multiple projects at a time moving forward without redoing roadways, building new hotels, new hubs, staffing, building a new land is waayyyyy different than this projects scale. I hope it’s all faster than we think like the Universal of the 2010’s.

If we look at the big picture several projects probably have been in development since Epic first started construction.

So I’m guessing a couple would be ready to showcase to the public once final approval is given.

For example Creatures had been rumored since before the official groundbreaking so I wonder if they paused R&D or was it continually being worked on all this time ?

We have sci-fi elsewhere but there is a disturbing lack of cowboys and six shooters across Universal, a single locomotive isn't enough!

Its hard being the worst 3D mainline game in a 10/10 GOTYs only franchise :pensive:

Having said that people always talk about how you could possibly replace toon lagoon without replacing the rides. Well ... Wind Waker and Super Mario Sunshine are right there now!

If Uni could partner with Rockstar and give us a Red Dead Redemption land they might as well open a money factory

With how popular that game is I always thought it would be interesting if Nintendo resurrected Wild Gunman as a Teen rated Looney Tunes slapstick style version of RDR. Obviously I think it should be developed by a western studio.

Sorry, hard to sift through the hundreds of pages in the different EU threads: are there any leads on expansions for EU so far?

UOR have confirmed they are already planning the next expansion, but thats it. Zelda / Luigi mansion and Creature of the black Lagoon are the most popular rumors. My guess is we won’t hear anything official until well after Epic is open. All the media and hype is focused on that right now

Hogwarts dining experience is also rumored. And yes it's odd that it would go to Epic and not IOA, likely due to space constraints at IOA.

While it may be odd the main campus doesn’t need any more HP attractions at this point.

I hear that, but Paris has two restaurants and only one ride already, so I’d rather see IOA get another one for the sake of the lands feeling more balanced.

Totally agree. A nice Potter themed dining experience at OUR Campus A would be unique and complement the park very well. Whereas at Epic Universe it feels redundant.

Concerning the space constraints, I'd move and (possibly retheme) the kiddie hippogriff coaster. Make the Great Hall entrance a little long so it feels like you're traveling towards the castle by the time you enter, similar to Forbidden Journey.

But the actual rumor is that 1) the Potter land at Epic was rumored to have a Paris Ministry of Magic ride that may have gotten cut very early on. I think the best guess (not based on any substantial rumors) is that Universal and/or WB saw the box office numbers for Fantastic Beasts 2, and decided to minimize the connection to the FB films and focus on the original Potter films. Then 2) with the space they would have used for a full Paris themed attraction, they may instead utilize the 'floo network' to transport guests back to Hogwarts.

I think we should take a break from Potter after Epic opens. Full Stop. I know it prints money, but even ignoring the JKR bad press, it seems like an IP that is extremely well represented and balanced at the parks now.

I mean what's next a Volcano Bay expansion themed after the mermaid challenge at the black lake?

Yeah, we're at the point where we're adapting the Fantastic Beasts movies. It's time to give it a rest.

I'd argue it should've been given a rest the second they were looking to axe Jaws, one of the most iconic Universal films and one of the most iconic films ever, for another land. But anywaysssss.....

Dumb, but interesting thought experiment I've talked with my friend with: could King Kong fit into Dark Universe? He IS a Universal Classic Monster, but not A Universal Classic Monster. Something like a re-done Kongfrontation would be cool. Rumors for this park's expansions are gonna be interesting because the majority of rumors have gone quiet and for all we know they've quietly shuffled stuff around.

Considering we already have a King Kong ride... I don't think we should expect to see another, in Dark Universe or anywhere else on the Orlando property.

In this, hypothetical scenario, Kong 3D leaves from IOA.

Okay, but it isn't. They are in the process of pouring a bunch of resources into getting the outdoor leg of the ride back online. It isn't going anywhere anytime soon, so it's not especially productive to imagine another Kong ride elsewhere in Orlando right now.

I was just thinking of a scenario where all the classic Monsters were together and hanging out together......

Argh.

Anyways.... I still think Creature is going to be a pretty neat ride if it materializes, especially with the people who know about it saying it's a "Jaws 2.0". I like that green guy a lot so it'd be extra cool to see him get his own ride to himself. Outside of DU expansion the only question I have for hypothetical expansions is just what's been echoed a thousand of times and it's: "what does that 20 acres do, Uni?".

Dark Universe needs to be the first land to expand.

At the moment, it's the smallest land physically AND lowest amount of offerings/experiences.

I think a well-themed dark ride, with no technological tricks, is needed to provide a more family-friendly experience (family friendly in height requirement/intensity, not storyline necessarily).
